micros are very similar to acanthastrea- flow, placement, food, light, etc.

They reproduce fast under the right conditions and if fed regularly.

Becareful with nipping tangs and some other naughty fish.

Colors might shift a little but if you start to see white...not good. Just put it under shady spot.

It looks like yours came from RM and I think those like to be placed low on the sand, medium flow helps to stimulate growth and food, I would recommend a "slaw" of meaty foods about 3 x a week (more if you would like).

If you need more advice just pm me. Jen=)

thanks

thanks

thank you very much, you have been very helpful as always, i believed that people like yourself always offering your experience is what this site is all about, thank you very much and yes that piece came from RM, i glue it to a bigger rock and its place in a fairy shady place, im start feeding cyclopeeze and mysis since day 1 ( yesterday ) and planning to do it like 3 or 4 times a week.I really love these corals but is extremely difficult and expensive to obtain a decent size colony, so im gonna try to grow it myself.

thank you,

when yours reaches colony size, it will be very impressive. You should have a mini colony in about 3-4 months, especially if you plan on feeding 3-4 x a week.

It's funny, at first you won't see any growth and you think that there is something wrong ..."why is it not growing???" and then you look and there is a rim of babies 8-10 of them. Very cool creatures.:)

Good Luck=)

Great information! I too just obtained my first micro today. You're right on the price, though. I had to let go of an arm to get it on sale. Mine was purchased from an online dealer and I can't wait for mine to grow and color up like his.

They do grow pretty much like Acans then? I have an Acan colony that had 6 polyps and now has 11 in just a little over 3 months. I don't feed them(or any) of mine regularly. I'll have to look into it.

Either way good luck on your new micro!

Ok, I am new to the acan/micro world, I have been feeding cyclopeeze a few times a week and the corals seem good with it. However recently I've been seeing (a lot) about how you need to feed meaty foods, mysis etc. Since cyclopeeze is derived from meat is it ok or does it need to be actual meat?

Thanks

CyclopEeze is not derived from anything, it's in it's natural state basicly ;) It's a bio enginered cyclop grown up in the cold north.

Bah, what do YOU know about it.

Punk.

Peace,

You don't just eat one thing everyday, either should your corals in my opinion. They eat a variety of foods in the wild so I would think you would want to change up their diet so it promotes healthy, happy, growing corals.
