So i have a fantastic LFS in my area and they got this bute in this week and i just had to have it! I was told that it is a RBTA called Son of Ra. I was told that they are extremely rare so i was wanting to know just how rare it is. This pic does not show its real colors but its the only one i got. So tell me what you think and any tips on making sure that his color doesnt deminish woudl be great!

The color is wonderful .....good luck!
I certainly don't have any tips on keeping in that colorful. But I have read feeding it once a week with mysis soaked in selcon
is very beneficial.

Very nice! BTAs are notorious for not photographing well.
I picked up one that might be similar this week. Its about golf ball size, as a purple base with copper colored tentacles with yellow tips.

But, OMG, please don't tell be they are starting to give silly names to BTAs so they can jack-up the prices. I am sure that your LFS didn't pay any more for it than any other standard RBTA.

It is hard to tell what might make its colors change. Bright light might increase the masking pigments which might make it nicer or could make it more monochrome. Since it has been shipped, it may have lost some of its zooxanthellae, which makes the other pigments stand out more. As its zooxanthellae increases it may dull the colors down a little. You kind of just have to try to keep is healthy and hope for the best as far as the color goes.

That's exactly what I was thinking:lol:. With all of the different color morphs of RBTA's starting to make their rounds in the hobby marketing names were bound to start happening. Based on what I have seen the prices are excelating along with the rediculous names.

Well at the LFS they now have a RBTA and i paid another $10 more than that and the one that i got was a bit larger. I have no problum paying another $10 for a RBTA with that kind of color. Im very happy with my pruchase

Hehe I got the other RBTA - Sea in the city right? You bought it before I even had a chance to see it in person!

I think Atlantis named theirs this and it kinda stuck around. i've seen one with the same name I think on the selling forum here on RC. I am jealous but perfectly happy with mine :)

Best of luck with yours and please when its settled in if you can take pics I'd love to see how it looks in your tank!
