The only thing I ever did before was throw rocks in the tank and lean them against each other LOL. When I bought the Marcos rock at the show I decided that I wanted to make a cave with a shelf so I can put some hard corals up top and not worry about light. I cured the rock for 3 weeks.
I used Aqua mend and some fiberglass rods to hold it all together. After I was done it was as good as one piece. I know it's not as good as some of your work but it is a start
