My first zoanthids!

I found these closed up in the bottom of a frag lagoon at a LFS. Took a chance on them and they opened up day 2!

I have no clue about an ID but they are pretty full size polyps, about 30 in all. These will go near the back wall of my nanocube and hopefully fill in a nice area up there.

I definately will.

They came on a hockey puck sized (but flat) piece of rock. I hope they spread across the entire piece, that would look great.

The contrast of the purple and green is fantastic and under actinics they really pop. They even look great under the LED moonlights, until they close up.

They are a reddish purple color. When the actinics are on the skirt almost looks like it has little green flecks in it. Really cool. Cant wait to see them spread.

Cool

I broke off a little piece for myself. I dont want the big rock in my tank anyway. If anyone wants to trade I have 20 polyps!

My wife stopped by the LFS, with me on the cell with her, to pick up some stuff. I told her to look in the coral tank and see if there was anything cheap for my first coral. After some candid conversation with the owner, she came home with a rock covered with the same above mentioned polyps, another type that has flecks of color, and 3 polyps of something totally different in green that looks awesome under the actinics. Over 200 polyps total for $25. It's my first coral, and while not as beautifully colored as some, I was happy. I was really happy when 75% opened up within an hour of being in my tank. After 4 days now, there's only 2 or 3 that haven't opened.

I just picked up a mushroom tonight, and I'm trying to decide on what I want next. I think I might need to go ahead and pre-register in a coral-aholics program! :)
