My Flower Pot will explode !

Did you ever see a flower pot inflated like this...

Yeah, my Fungia used to inflate like that on occasion too. I never did get a solid answer as to why this happens, but it might be trying to relocate somewhere else. When they balloon up like that it's makes it much easier for the currents to move them along the sandy bottom. It's really nothing to worry about though and doesn't last very long.

My red gonio inflates like that when I clean my tank. I always took that as meaning it was eating stuff floating around. I might be wrong. After I stop cleaning my tank, it goes back to normal morphology after a few hours.

I was told this as well. By increasing the surface area it makes it easier for the coral to catch more food out of the water column. It sounds reasonable enough, but I'm not exactly sure if that's the real reason as to why they do this.

I think most corals do this to remove the sand that accumulated on their tissue.
