I noticed this while i was updating my photos of my tank. So i guess i have 2 frogspawns!

This is the source colony:

This is what it looked like 6 months ago as a damaged frag from Big Als:

Now it has 4 heads & lots of mass, I love growing my corals from little frags..

if it spawned it did it asexually, i don't have another in the tank.. I was looking my rocks over getting ready for my 6 month progress pictures and i noticed it, I was very happy to see it! It is possible it broke off from the main colony, the rock it is mounted to fell a month ago and i had to remount the thing on another rock for stability. The location the frag is in is about 2 feet from the origin colony.

don,

Frogspawns can reproduce by budding. My small colony has a few of these appearing along the base. I think any of these could detach and form new colonies.

thats really cool to see good pics! how long have you guys had yours? i'd love to see my frogspawn put out some buds

A year ago mine was a single branch, almost a bare skeleton after a fall into the rock pile (took me too long to find it and it dig it out). Today, it's about the size of a fist, and probably has 5 or 6 formed branches. For me, the growth really took off sometime last fall.

Frogspawns are awesome! I got mine when it was just a little "nub" too...

This was it after a couple of weeks in my tank (it loves Spectrum pellets)...

Now it's double that size and has about 5 heads. One side is dropping another "stalk" and there are "buds" all over the bases of both sides. It's pretty awesome watching its progess and wondering what one earth I did to make it do all this!

Can't wait to see if it does the same thing yours did...I'd love to see a little bud growing on the rock (as long as it's not within stinging distance from my other goodies!).

I've been feeding my brown/green torch coral in hopes of it spreading from just one head to more...

But my pocillapora is releasing buds all over the tank, as I find new colonies growing on random rocks, a new spore colony almost daily.. It'll be awesome if/when they grow!
