this is going on a 65 gal reef. i dont plan to use my skimmer on this system either. i have most pods/critters that can be found in reef aquairums, still looking for mysis shrimp though. i will grow chaeto in the tubs. the rack is 4 ft long. two 30 watt 6500k T8 bulbs will hang over each "layer".

ill add more pictures as things develope. but so far, how does this look?

will this end my hair algae problem? and at the same time provide my pods a huge area to reproduce?

So its gonna be three seperate tanks? With water flowing progressively down into each one? I dont see plumbing pipes extending from the middle one to the bottom one, is this some of the plumbing which still needs to be done? Make sure to use screens on the overflows to reduce the risk of them getting clogged by some floating macro or a snail.

The bottom tank isnt really deep enough for a DSB for any nitrate reduction, but the macros should handle that, maybe a SSB for critters which prefer to dwell in the sand.

I like the setup, but another thing just came to mind as I looked at the picture, you're gonna be generating alot of moisture in that closet, what are plans to reduce moisture? I think I would also set up some sort of tray underneath to catch any spills.

yes, i still have plumbing to do. today im going to make eggcrate guards around the intakes as well. as far as moisture, i dont have a door for my closit..

i will have to take a look around for what i could use for a tray though.
i will probably use a shallow sandbed with rock rubble piles built around the eggcrate guards.

yep me and my grandpa put the stand together using 40$ in wood. i have started filling the tubs yesterday but RO water in my area is difficult to get in large quantitys!
