Ok.......further inspection has revealed that my fuge is leaking.

From where is anybodies guess as only the front is accessible. It has 6 inches of sand, a very little rock, chaeto algae and a myriad of life forms. How do I go about emptying all this to be able to repair/replace the fuge tank.

Help please :-)

for example, my skimmer loves to have moments in the night where it tosses water out...not sure why....and skimmer is fully in sump..but I will come up and the floor of my cabinet is wet...I needed to figure out where the leak was comming form first (I assumed sump) and I used the above method to finally figure out it was skimmer, only at night, well after I was in bed.

Thank you for your reply but my fuge is located in the cabinet below my dt and only the front pane is accessible. It is just a small leak but I have no idea how to find it without completely emptying the fuge tank and pulling it out. I am concerned about what i can do with the substrate and saving as many of the copepods etc as i can
