My Gigas Now lives @ the Public Aquarium!

I had to break down my tank this week so I decided to contact the people at the California Academy of Sciences and offer my 11" Gigas to them as a donation and they said yes! In one month (After Quarantine) they will place him in the main 120,000 gallon reef display for everyone to see, I will posts pics when I drop by there to see him, stay tuned!

Congratulations on the Gigas relocation; PA's still take donations that are unique or rare. They just can't fill their tanks with all the hobby undesirables, since eventually, it would affect displays.

I was fortunate because one of our club members (Rich-Bay Area Reefers) works with Charles Delbeek there at the Steinhart Aquarium and made room for my little beastie. Oh yea, at the last meeting I sat 2 feet from my new best friend (Mr. Delbeek) and he had some wonderful stories of his time at the aquraium on Maui. :lol:, What's cool is that if my clam makes it through the long hall for the next 20-30 years my son can watch him grow!

I haven't heard from the guys at the academy but a month has gone by and I am going to give them a call ho see how my baby is doing, here's a picture of him the day I bought him two years ago.

There's only one gigas in the photo (it's on the right). The left one is a crocea.

The shed aquarium in chicago, has someones masive gigis. But i was unable to find someone workin the reef zone who knew anything.
