Does anyone else have tangs that won't leave each others side? I thought they weren't supposed to like each other? Mine are never apart!

I have a sailfin, scopas and yellow tang in my 180 reef. They swim together like a pack. And when one starts grazing on rocks or glass, the other two join in. Their like three best friends. All three were introduced to the tank at the same time, which which is probably one of the reasons they are "friends"...no one was able to form their own territory before the other.

I just recently introduced a tomini tang. It doesn't get beat up, but the sailfin clearly tries to assert itself. Nothing ever serious though. And the tomini has never been part of "the pack". It's pretty much a loner and stays to itself.

I have a Naso, Yellow and a Hippo that all hang out together. Yellow and Naso even sleep very close and rarely leave each others side. They have totally conflicting termperaments too.... Yellow is a little neurotic (chases his reflection) and the Naso is soooo laid back. The Naso actually eats from my hand... Zero agression and they are all pigs. Kids named the Naso vacuum cause he eats so much.

Hah! Funny. Thanks for the stories guys. Mine always graze together too. I'd like to get another tang but not until I get a new tank so I can add them all together again.

With five tangs in my tank, I love throwing a single piece of nori in the tank and watch them play tug of war. It eventually becomes a chasing game. Fun to watch, and they get their exercise!

My blue hippo and yellow each do there own thing. My blue hippo is kinda boring. Swims around and than goes to his hiding spot and lies down.
