my idea

I always thought it would be nice to have a phosphate meter(photometer by Hanna instruments) does anyone have one? I thought this would be an invaluable tool for a club to possess, and affordable for a club, but not necesary for most reefers. We could even mail samples to someone and they post results. We could also have it at all meetings.
Just a thought as i would love to have access to one but i have to many other things i need first.
joe.

I think that is a great idea and just one more thing to add to the list of benifits a club can have for its members.

also I have my own venders so i can things at cost so if people want to put money together to some equipment to shared by the club i would be willing to bring it in

I think the best bet with something like that would be that the tools would be brought to each meeting and people could bring in thier water samples. Then things that wouldnt work out that easliy could go on house calls. Just one more thing to discuss.

 I dont know what I am talking about. I was thinking about things that need to be at the tank for testing and not just with a water sample. I really do not have anything in mind with that thought. just throwing it out there:D

There are some things I can get a deal on with my job, not much reef related though. I am in sales for an industrial supply company so tools are the main thing, but there are some things you can use for your tank. A couple things like Mag pumps are probably about 10-20 bucks cheaper then marinedepot. We have a glass cutting machine and can get 1/8" glass and plexi for next to nothing. PVC ball valves, unions, and other plumbing stuff but I would have to buy case qty and thats usually 20 or so pieces. We also carry Advance ballasts and have good pricing, but I am not sure on which ones would work with aquarium lights. I just found out today I can get some John Guest fittings but I am not sure how good are pricing is on that. Thats about all I can think of right now, I will let you know more when I think of it.

i'll be making my sump tommorrow and Sat., wish i could've hooked up with you to get my hands on some cheap plexi, i'm gonna pick some up at HD, i might go over to Busch plastics on 30 tho.

I heard Busch plastics is high, I think from AquaG. Let me know what sizes are you are looking to get and I can get it cut for you tom. We only have 1/8" in stock.

thanks for the offer scott, i'm looking to run this sump for a long time, its a 75 aga, so it'll work even if i do upgrade in the future, so i want to go heavy duty, 1/4".
I've used Busch before and yes they prolly are high, i had them make me two overflows, 1/4" black acylic, 2 heat bends, 24" tall, it was 80 bucks. but I figure if i put it together myself i would've paid 20-30 for the acylic plus glue, and it would not have been heat bent and would have looked crappy in comparison to what i got.
