Here's what I'm starting with. It's a tank that was given to me 2 years ago from a guy for helping him out with his big tank. I used to have cichlids in it til this morning. The tank used to have an eclipse like top and filter that I have removed.

This is going to be my flow. 2 maxijet1200's with the old cut the nozzle off mod hooked up to a pump timer. This mod works by changeing the direction of the flow every time the pump is turned on. So the water goes back and forth. I also have an aquaclear 50 but I may upgrade that to a larger model so I can modify it into a fuge.

It looks great but I think you have to much flow for a 14 gal. What are you thinking about keeping in your tank?

The wavemaker only runs one pump at a time so the flow isn't that crazy, just nice and random. I just filled it up with water and added a big piece of uaneva rock. Could barely get it in there.

I'm also running 2x65watt PC's temporarily.

Added the rest of my liverock today. I think I have about 25lbs. Alltogether. I ended up having to break up some of the bigger pieces which always bums me out. I like to use a few big pieces rather than a bunch of small ones.

I also picked up today what I needed to hang my lights frome HD.Will get pics up later of that little project.

Ok, now my lights are hung. My supervisor seems to be pleased with my work so far.

I think my next project will be hooking up a gravity fed topoff from the top shelf in my closet behind the tank. Eventually I'll be topping off with kalk.
Here's some pics of how I rigged the lights for about $10 rather than $30 for the AB hanging kit,

Yes i plan on an aquaclear refugium mod. I temporarily have a small aquaclear with a piece of poly filter and a 5-oz chemipure.

Wpke up in the middle of the night to find this little guy cruisin around. Guess he was in a piece of rock. Anybody know which watchman goby will go with him?Or if he will bother anything in the tank? Thanks!

Got my float valve today for my gravity fed topoff. Made a bracket out of a piece of a yard stick.
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/float001.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
Drilled holes in the top brace to run zip ties to connect the float.

Hopefully I can pick up a water reservoir and the rest of my supplies tomorrow!

Scored an acrylic tank to use for my topoff today!

Here it is with the bulkhead and RO tubing adaptor in place.

I put the tank up on a shelf above my tank to gravity feed down to the float valve as evaporation occurs.

The light is hung that way for 2 reasons.
1-it has a built in ballast so the bulb is way off center,
2-I like the light spread better this way. I get more light in the tank with the bulb aligned this way.

hey saltycreefer, i noticed that your having good luck with your 14gal under 150watts of metal halide.. I seem to be having problems with my 14gal under 150watts..any recommendations? everything seems to be dying, including mushrooms which ive kept under dark areas. Also, I added a powerhead and the waterflow just seems to be too much to keep anything. I have a biocube 14gal. How long have you had your tank cycled up and running? I have huge amount of algae growing due to the metal halides and mine has been up and running for 4months now.

What I did today! I have no idea if this is going to work the way I want it to but I'm givin' it a shot. I made a fuge out of a phosban reactor and a nova 10k t5 light.
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/fuge006.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/fuge007.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
Here it is put together. I put a small amout of what I call sea pubes(chaeto.) in the chamber and zip tied the t5 to the reactor.

Here it is hanging behind the tank.
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/fuge011.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
I have it recirculating in my aquaclear 50 via a maxijet 400 valved 1/2 way down.
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/fuge013.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/fuge009.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
And lit up!!!
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/saltycreefer/fuge012.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

I have done the phosphate reactor fuge before and it worked very well however I discontinued it because it was the the older model (a pain to have to open every week to remove algae!).
