My last 10 gallon reef

For those who do not know. I had a 10 gallon reef before. But then I downgraded to a pico. I decided on going back to the 10 because I wanted more fish. This will be my last nano tank. Next tank is going to be a large tank. But the nano will do for now. The past few weeks I ordered some reef cleaners rock and some more leds. I already got some left over equipment from my previous tanks so this will be up and running soon  For now...

I tired to add as much overhangs, caves, lagoons, mountains as possible so that's probably why the tank looks cramped..

Sorry for cellphone pic :worried:

I did not know but now I do. Thanks.

Can you turn the upper far left rock so the opening on the bottom sits on the rock holding it up? If you put it on the back and rotate it 45 degrees it would provide some additional surface area for other corals.

I like the scape.

I decided to change the scape around some more. The right side just looked a bit tacky to me. Gone were the chunky right side. Converted it a lagoonish type area. Left side just flipped the rock around. Its hard aquascaping with such a small tank :(
Again, sorry for the cell phone pics :(

Like the scape, what's the equipment list look like?

Thanks. I'll be using my left over equipment which includes Aquamaxx hob-1, koralia nano 425, ebo jager 50w. Might get another power head in also depending if the need for it comes. Lighting will be a diy led fixture. 4 cw and 8 rb. Not sure if I'm missing anything else...

Not sure if you already built your light or where are you're buying from if you haven't yet but just a warning: if you are buying drivers from RapidLED, I've seen the drivers that require 8-14 LEDs not work with 8, they end up needing 9. I don't know how often, could be a non-issue. But I figured I'd let you know.

I like the second aquascape btw.

The driver I got is from rapidled. I currently have it setup on my pico with only 6 leds. I'll just be adding 6 more leds to the heatsink. Gona throw in the skimmer and powerhead and heater sometime this week to get the cycle going. Since its baserock and not live sand, it'll probably take a long time, but i'll throw in some live rocks to speed up the process

I plan to have a pair of true percs, cleaner shrimp, and maybe a purple firefish and of course the regular cleanup crew

Sorry for the lack of updates, the cycle took forever because I just used a raw shrimp with dry rock and sand. About a month in, I gave up and went with bio-spira which finished the cycle in 3 days. Dropped some ammonia in the tank to make sure it was finished cycling.

Over the past month after the cycle completed, I added in live stock and equipment. Heres a list of what I have so far right now.

Livestock
- 3 blue/green chromis
- 2 clowns (not mated)
- various snails
- monti cap frag
- birdsnest frag
- purple mushroom
- various clove polyps (even the blue ones, I like them :lol2: )
- devils armor polyp

Equipment
- Koralia 425
- DIY 12 LED 7RB 5 CW no optics
- Aquamaxx hob-1
- Phosban Reactor 150
- AC70 (nothing inside atm)
- Ebo Jager 50w

I've got too much cerith snails. So Im thinking of removing some and replacing them with a turbo.

Sorry for the dirty tank, didnt get to clean the front yet

As you can see, the back is pretty jammed. Everything fits snug so I guess no more of the hang on the back equipments :lmao:

Really loving the aquascape.
How are you controlling the LED drivers? Are they dimmed down at all?

Tagging along.

I'm planning an led build myself for my nano, what type and where did you get your led stuff from? I like the setup though.

Thanks. I just have them on a timer and thats it. No fancy dimmers or anything. I dont think its worth the extra couple bucks to mimic the sun setting and dimming. Its cool and all, but I don't think the tank inhabitants would care either way. :lolspin:

I got my stuff from rapidled. Before I had 6 leds attached to the heatsink from my previous build. After upgrading to this current tank, I just added 6 more leds.

Ah okay! lol damn, that's a lot of light if they're not dimmed down.

Haha yeah, I am setting up a JBJ NC12 and went with the RapidLED BioCube kit 12LED dimmable kit. Got the Typhon to control the drivers mainly to be able to configure the intensity and get a color mix I like. The whole sun mimicking, dimming and timer are cool bonuses!
