Born April 1st, 2007 at 2:17pm

It was rough trying to convince some people that this WASN'T an April Fools joke because she wasn't due until May 17th. Mom was having some serious health issues and the doctors decided that delivering 7 weeks early was better than risking Mom and baby's health.

She weighed in at only 3lbs and 12.5oz but 16in in length.

She'll be in the NICU for a few weeks..it's rough leaving the hospital with her still there. Tonight is the first night I'll be sleeping in my bed since last Wednesday.

Mom is slowly recovering, and baby is doing as expected for her 33 week gestation.

<a href='http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v93/Fizz71/Family/Zoey%20Elizabeth%20Fizz%20-%2007-01-2007/'>More Photos Here</a>...I got to use the Macro lens I bought on something besides corals and clownfish. :)

Congratulations Fizz... What a beautiful frag! Good to hear that Mom and Babe are recovering... Good luck and God bless!

Hey Fizz, congrats man! I went through the same deal in 2005. My son was delivered 2 months early. He was in the NICU exactly 1 month before he came home. It is tough to leave them there, and the daily drives (for me atleast) to see them can get to you as well, but trust me, they know what they are doing in there! My son was 2 lb, 10 oz and 5", now he's a little porker! there is an older pic to the left of him. I know we don't really know each other, but if you need any kind of emotional support or anything from someone who has been there not too long ago, send me a PM. Mybe we could chat on the phone or something. Good luck with everything and I wish you the best!

I actually have a job that's only 3 miles from the hospital so I can at least visit quickly before, and after work and at lunch...which I'm heading to do in a minute. Hopefully I don't get any assignments for a month that will take me out of town everyday..I have one brewing so I'm trying to stall. :)

It's rough..but the NICU seems pretty good at Reading. The only thing I don't like is the fact that the staff has been different everyday now..every shift....They said they like to keep the same 3 or 4 people on rotation for the same child but I've met about 5 or 6 now in 2 days. :(

Thanks everybody..I'm off for a visit...

Yeah, thats what they said to us too, but it didn't seem to work that way. You will get some nurses that you just want to smack lol, but you'll get more that are very nice and welcoming. My son was at Lehigh Valley Hospital (my wofe works there and they have one of the best NICU units in PA and I'm pretty sure the country. So, I had a 45 minute drive one way.

The most precious frag of all. My 2 daughters are almost full grown now. Enjoy her. Precious isn't a big enough word in your case I think.

My wife went into labor with my son very, very early, and with medication and bed-rest he went full term. A scary process when my daughters were just a breeze. Michael's now as tall as I am at 13 and is gonna be quite a pitcher/shortstop.

I really wish you all the best.

Congrats!

Congrats!

It is a a very precious frag! Loved the macro shot of the hands! Beautiful! Hope you, mom and baby are all home together soon!

Kevin:

Zoey is a doll!! Congrats. Love the pic of her holding the finger. I hope she and Mom are recovering well.

Just the right amount lighting, and temp, and she'll be kicking a soccer ball before you know it :) nice work mom and dad!

Congrats! We just spent the weekend with cousins whose now-3-year-old daughter was early and 4-5 pounds, and she's awesome despite those scary moments. Have fun with it all!

Just remember, even when you are tempted, don't use superglue to attach her in your tank. Somehow, it just doesn't work...

Thanks everybody...they appear to be fast-tracking her to get her out of there..the NICU is packed. I still don't feel like a Dad yet since I only see her a handful of times a day but we're getting there. :)

She should be home in a week or so.

Thanks again.

..and I'd be more likely to superglue the diaper shut.

Haven't been on the boards in weeks, months.....what a surprise!

Congratulations, Kevin. What a beautiful little bundle of joy.
