maybe it is self explanatory but I’ll give some more details: it started with one brute trash can and a mess of cords and tubing. But my girlfriend was gone for the week so I had some time to work on the tank and extras so i got organized.
you can see that the 5 stage RO/DI unit is all mounted on a board with a booster pump, TDS, and flush kit. The waste and RO/DI run along top of the support beam to hide the hose. Then the top left barrel is the RO/DI with a float switch at the very top and a bulkhead drilled at the bottom on a ball valve. The next two barrels on the top are waste water, they are connected with a ball valve and bulkheads as well ( I wanted to use unions too but not enough room) the far right can is drilled on the other side as well with a pipe that runs to the washer on a ball valve and a short hose. So I can use the water for washing clothes or plants. I'm just renting for right now so it is not permanent but when I get a house I plan on a 175 gallon IBC container and hooking the sprinkler system up to it...they are $150 on CL.
Cost break down:
4-45 gallon trash cans ($40 each at home depot, they are the only place that caries them I found)$160
1-35 gallon trash can (home depot) $30
2 Dollies for trash cans-$35 each home depot only again-$70
Wood and screws for table-$30
Bulkheads, pipe, glue, primer, ball valves, couplings, Teflon tape, hose clamp, hose barb, nipples and hose-$75
Always having RO/DI, Salt water, waste water and saving on the water bill......priceless….for everything else there’s Visa!
-Side note- if I were to do this over again I would have used an IBC container but with the room I hid they will not really fit easy.
Also buy the trash cans in bulk from an on line dealer...these cans are expensive but they are high quality and thick so they will not bow with the water weight like the cheaper cans will. So do not use cheap thin cans. It will cost around $400 at least the way I did it but it is worth it and figure in about a years time it will match the water I save. My washer takes 30 gallon to fill!
As for the new tank I have not had any time to work on it yet...
As for hosting a meeting, the house is small but the backyard is big compared to the house, with 2 BBQ!...but my tank is coming out of stress so maybe in a few months don't want to show you at it's worst.
