my lil biocube 8

thought i'd post up some pics of the biocube 8. awhile back, i broke it down to remove the crused coral substrate & replaced it caribsea fuji pink....MUCH happier w/ that substrate :)

there is about 12-15lbs of rock in combinations of peice of live from a previous setup, piece of live from the critter & some dry rock from bulkreffsupply.com & marcorocks.com

inhabitants include a few of each of nasarius snails, astrea snails, & blue leg crabs. ther is also one fairly large red leg crab. there is my red star i have had thru several tanks & several moves since i started saltwater about 2yrs ago :)

fish are a purple pseudo & a fuji damsel. there is also 1 peppermint shrimp & the purple lobster.

corals are the brain coral i have had for a few tanks, the candy cane i got from brandon & a piece of the kenya tree i got at the frag swap & then sold, but found a broken piece swirling around later & glued it to a small rock

CLICKABLE THUMBNAILS:

thanks....i can't wait to get a nice open spot for it in the new build. it REALLY likes to open up when it has the room :D

Nice little tank. These small setups make me wonder if I should have started smaller. Lots of bang for the buck it seems.

Looks nice! I love the purple lobster. Have you had any problems out of him? Aren't they supposed to eat fish or something?

Glad the candy coral's doin good for ya, too! :)

i've heard that the fuji damsel & the purple pseudo won't get along in a small tank & i've heard that the lobster will kill fish.....for my setup at least, both have been proven wrong :D

the fish have lil shows of domination on occasion, but most of the time they chill out together & the lobster seems to be scared of the fish. everytime he is out (which isn't for long) if one comes near, he darts back in the rocks & i've never seen him "grab" at them when he is at the edges of the rocks & one of the fish is nearby. heck he even seems to be oblivious to the pepermint shrimp when they are in proximity of each other

i'm really looking forward to getting them in the bigger tank :D

I don't think anything has been proven yet... give it a year or two and then we can say for sure. ;)

And I am jonesing for a bigger tank, too.

i'm going from an 8 to a 29...nearly 4x the tank. that'd be like you going from your 45 to a 180

LOL

I'm hoping to go from a 45 to a 300, though. :D

Should be nice, though, none the less. :)

Brandon

i'd like a 300ish as well.....oh the stand i could build
