My little story of my first build, 4 tanks later, still not even close yet

Just so I don't confuse every body I did not get rid of my 120 gallon tank. The 75 gallon reef tank tonight that I had traded I acquired with another tank which was the 90 gallon wave tank bought as a package

I'm going through the bins of the stuff now and there is also a vortex XL diatom Filter

There is so much stuff here wave controllers , Powerheads, heaters ,sumps ,ballast ,
boxes and boxes. Full of stuff

I feel lucky my wife loves picking out fish and coral... I just built a 120 and already thinking about building the dream tank that will take up the living room wall and turning the garage to a support room....

Now that sounds cool !

Just bought a brand new Reef Octopus DCS200 Protein Skimmer ! Rated for tanks up to
300 gallons !

Also going to install a 25 watt UV light under the stand

I can say. I was thinking of lowering the stand, but the skimmer is 24" tall, and my opening is 30" tall for my whole sump area. My total height on the stand is 42" , after reading many post on this, seems allot of DIY builders like myself, make their stands tall enough to fit all the larger sumps

I also like having the tank eye level

Wife is finally getting on board here. She's happy with the new tile down in the room, fresh coat of paint. I think she's accepted now, it's really going to happen!

In another week or two, I'll have everything in place, all this extra stuff gone that I don't need, and starting the process of getting the tank filled, which will be exciting !

Do a good job on the 120 and maybe she will let you set up the 125 in another room!

You're a mad man fltekdiver! I'm the guy always on the other end of that deal you made today!

LOL !

Did your new tank come in yet? Last I saw you were waiting for it to come in, back then it was around 5 weeks

Talked to them today and they said first part of next week. My QT is cycled so I think I'm going to go ahead and put my first fish in QT.

Got my dry rock in today, have my sump, return pump, fittings and pvc. Can't find any of the 3 skimmers I want....all on back order. I'm learning patience and I haven't even started yet!:deadhorse1:

YIKES ! Reading this post was BETTER than watching TV. I can't think of a single sitcom funnier. THANKS !
btw... I bought a used 72 bow front without measuring the planned space. It fit perfectly.
Once it cycled I bought a few things then found a friend who was closing his tank to move. He gave me a LOT of fish and coral. I bought a used tank as a sump for $10 ...was given a skimmer.
Total invested . about $600 including water changes and food. Sometimes the luck swings the other way.....

I traded my 75 gallon drilled reef tank for the 125 set up, and now needed a non drilled
75 gallon tank for my sump

Just bought one, heading to store tonight to pick it up, I can now start the sump build next week and plumbing !

Total volume will be 195 gallons between the DT tank and sump/refugium

I just ordered the Reef Octopus DCS 200. It's rated to 300 gallons

It was $500 bucks shipped

LOL Thanks for the smiles you put on my, and my wife's face. At least now she doesn't think i'm as crazy.

I did one bad move, i Krylon sprayed my tank IN THE HOUSE as it was winter... Black fall-out all over the floor that had to be scrubbed to remove. Painful. Wasn't just the smell...

Now we have 90 DT and 40 Sump with water turning over for 3 weeks and no fish. and noise, everything makes a little bit of noise, add it up = "the Look"
I'm running out of reasons..

Oh, and the Kids don't understand the enjoyment of watching water.

Not my first set-up, just the most current.

All the best to you!!

OK.. so.. How is it going?

Sorry was researching and came across this.

The snails made me laugh.

This process started back in Febuary this year, I bought the tank, built the stand, spent about $2k between everything, RO-DI unit, etc. Started with a 75 Gallon, never set it up, sold it, bought a used 90 Gallon, never set it up, got the 125 in the above post, sold that, 6' long tank wouldn't work in the office. Bought a brand new 120 Gallon tank from a LFS

Then.....

on March 15th a month later in the middle of everything, spent two weekends alone build the stand, staining it, I was let go of my job after being their 12 years.

I sold everything at half the cost , not knowing when my next paycheck would be.

3 months later , well, a little less, end of May, I started a new job, with. $10K paycut

One month later from starting my new job, I've all ready spent over $2k taken out of my savings, and I'm starting all over again.

This time no turning back !

We just sold our boat, got rid of most of the monthly payments, so this time I'm dropping money and having fun while building everything

Man I am sorry about the job. This hobby is a love hate relationship! Lol! Sometimes you will love it, and other times you will wish you had all of that money back in your account.
