My Mantis is eating mushrooms?

Hey all!

I put my first coral, some really pretty blue/green/purple mushrooms, into the tank with my mantis yesterday. The mantis seems to be eating at the feet of the mushrooms! What's that about? I droped a fat piece of krill in there, which he seems to enjoy much more than picking on my mushrooms. He's N. Wennerae (I think), and I drop a big piece of food in there every 3 days. Is he still hungry?

He may be looking for pods hiding under the shroom. Mantizilla (my wenne) never ate the polyps or shrooms in the tank, but he does seem to look for the bigger pods.
