did I do something wrong because all of the sudden my peacock is missing a club how do I heal him?
Use a red potion... or super glue :) Or just wait til he molts.

i've heard of it happening before. what are you feeding him? in good conditions it will just grow back after a few molts it should have a usuable arm again. i've heard that if you dont feed them at least some live foods to smash they have a higher possibility to lose clubs. HTH

in that case its not the food...he actully could have injured it. if they break or fracture a club they actually tear it off with their other arm at the joint. this way the wound doesnt get infected...this is always a possibility. even if thats not it, the club should just grow back on its own.

I have seen a peacock loose one right before a molt. It turns out the tank had never been dosed with iodine, which is very important in molting. Make sure that you are dosing iodine or are using an additive that has iodine in it....just beware of cheap crap. Anyways I agree with the others, ..If it is HEALTHY, the limb will make a recovery...:hammer: :

CAN YOU EXPLAIN MORE ABOUT THE IODINE? i have never heard of this before.

"It's just a Fleshwound! He's had worse!"

Er, he probably tore it off as stated above, they regrow.
The Iodine comment is good as well for newbies (like me). I was unaware until someone mentioned it a week or two after I bought my first mantis.

iodine is required by shrimp and lobsters in order to molt properly. they of course also need calcium to regrow the shell.

I've had my mantis for 6 months and he has never molted dose that have anything to do with the arm falling off

well...you never really know when molting time is, so i think ur supposed to keep the levels up all the time. but personally, i've never dosed it and dont think i ever will. water changes should do the trick and i think my calcium supplement has it in there anyways.
