I thought I'd tell a short story about my experiences with these two dips..
I dip all my sps before going into my tank as well as cutting away all non living material from the base.
Several years ago, I started using Melafix at a dosage of 10ml/L of tank water for about 5 minutes.
I started doing this after having an aefw infestation in my tank. After the tear down and qt of all my corals for 6 weeks, I began my regimen of Melafix and cutting all new additions. For 18 months I was aefw free. Unfortunately, shortly after that I had to tear down the tank due to an impending major renovation.
Now, a few years later, I've got a new tank and in the process of adding new coral I adopted my old regimen but using Revive instead...
I started loosing all sorts of delicate corals like dragons, granulosas, echinatas and other thin skinned deep waters corals. Even at a lower dosage than recommended on the bottle, corals were getting toasted. Even the odd acro crab would survive the dip but the coral would not.. (I try to remove the good acro crabs before dipping the coral and add them to my tank)
So, I went back to Melafix and my success rate has gone back to basically perfect. I dipped an acro with a blue eyed (baddy) crab and it was dead in 4 minutes and the coral was perfect.
So, basically, I'll never use another dip for my acros other than Melafix.
I used to bathe the new additions in interceptor for several hours as well, but since red bugs can be killed off in tank (and because I don't have any interceptor anymore), I don't bother with the interceptor.
I have not found a dip that is as easy on the coral and as tough on aefws (and I suspect other undesirable hitch hikers) as Melafix..
... And, no, I don't own or work for anybody who has anything to do with Melafix.
Hope this helps anybody looking for a decent dip..
