my natural sunlight tanks

I was thinking about adding some battery driven airpumps in case there is a power failure, but still have to do it.

I made a 5 m opening in my house (living room) and integrated a 25 m² lean on greenhouse.

I realy like cactus!

No full room shots will take some next weekend. It is already dark when I get home after work.

Thanks for the comments, but I don' t think my tank is impressive, it are all easy corals and not the best colored ones. Luckily most off them have fluorescent proteins in their tissue so after dusk it looks a bit more 'flashy'.

As I' m out of the country quite frequently I wanted an easy and foolproof system.
The 300 g one only uses a bit over 300 € electricity each year!

I think your tank shots prove that it is not all about the flash so to speak rather the overall beauty of the tank(s).

Plus these make you happy and you seem to enjoy them.

Isn't that what a hobby is for?

Please post more when you get a chance including your North sea tank please.

@Mike: more pics of teh North sea tank will have to wait at least a week as taking pics in sub zero temps is a pain in the....
Due to my incompetent photographic skills it takes about 1000 shots before I get an even half decent one.
Always reflections, overexposed, out of focus, blurry,...sometimes a bit frustrating.

Yes I used to have SPS, but I had a few accidents, now there is only 1 goniastrea left.

it were PO4 issues, power outages, lead poisoning,.
During a holiday my father once forgot to add topoff water so he wanted to 'set things straight' again and poured 60 l of limewater in the tank
You know that kind of thing...

But I have to admit I really like the look of a very big leather coral swaying in the current.

how can you keep such large groups of chromis? do you lose quite a few? or do they get along well? ive been reading that feeding them lots will reduce aggression between them. do you think thats true?

Chromis are actually rather delicate especially during acclimatisation.

After introduction there is always (especially the ones with some red spots) die off. I lost 5. As they are cheap and abundant they have a real hard time (in the trade) as they are not as well cared for as more expensive fish

I feed up to 8 times a day, if not fed regularly the weak ones vanish probably due to aggression.

Always try to make sure their stomach is full.

The copious amounts of food is also why I limited myself in my choice of corals.

a pic of the reason SPS don' t do very well.:worried:
And why I believe I' m able to keep a school of chromis over time and the CBB I have is about 8-9 years old.

And I add dry food every morning before I leave for work and immediately after I come home again. Plus some nori, oatmeal, caulerpa peas broccoli and other greens and some yeast for the sponges and seasquirts. And often I feed earthworms to the CBB but all the fish go crazy over these!

A bit late, nut never got to resizing the pics.

The tanks is on the floor and a seat is placed in front of it so we can lay down in front of it.
As promised a pic of the room and just in case people ask what te black box is on top of the tank, this is where I raise some baby bangai.

I was doing a water change on my
mediterranean tank, hence the green water barrel.

@brgmini: I used to have a tank under a large south facing window, while not as efficient as a greenhouse, it worked well.

I have swapped some anemones and some heliopora with a fellow reefer.
So I have added a red plating montipora, seriatiopora caliendrum, a sinularia and a ricordea.

I' ll post some pics.

The valentini puffer immediately began to bite pieces of the caliendrum, so I had to remove the frag from the tank.

I also fragged some of the corals for the upgrade (hopefully this summer)

I plan on making 1 enormous 'pseudo' colony of heliopora, about 70-80 cm in diameter and about 30-40 cm high.

I had a ATI powercone on order for 7 (!!!) months and it has arrived.

Unfortunately 2 pieces were already broken (needed glue) but it is on the 300 g system and skimming!

Just saw from my last post i promised to post pics and still haven' t (mesolazy!!)

There is not much to see for filtration.

There' s only a skimmer and a DIY phosphate filter.

The skimmer now is a ATI 250 i powercone that replaced the older ATI BM series (that worked as good as the new one)

I should post some pics as these are all rather old, the sinularia are about 45 cm in diameter now and touching each other.
