Hey guys,

I have been receiving some pms about my NC so I decided to start a new thread. Here's a brief list of equipment that I am using:

Nanocube 24 with surface skimmer (open top)
2 x 150W sunpod (20000k)
AquaC remora skimmer with maxijet 900 pump
2 x Maxijet 1200 with 2 hydro flow
Current USA prime 1/15hp chiller with rio1400 pump
Aquamatic triple pump doser (calcium, Alk/ph, top-off)
Aqua Clear 70 moded to Refugium with Coralife 18w light
Ph probe monitor

Thanks guy for viewing.

Few more information that I want to add... I have filled all the chambers in the rear of my tank full with small live rocks. I didn't use any sponge filter. I have 2 chimi pure in the rear right below the output of the skimmer and my refugium so that'll decrease micro bubbles getting into the tank....and oh yeah... I do 10G water change every 2 weeks.

Nice. That is by far the most light I've ever seen on a nano, ever. You should get plenty of practice at fragging ;)

My Aqua Medic Reefdoser dose by time. You can set it to dose from sec, mintue, hour, day... It's a very easy doser to use. First attached all the plastic hoses then I measure how many ML it can dose within 1 mintue (came out to be appox 27ml with the length of the plastic hose that I have on there) than I divide the result to 60 (sec)... Anyway, at the end I figured out that I need 20 sec of dosage on both Calcium and Alk/Kh. I then set each pump accordingly. Same calculation method goes for top off.

That is one crazy nano, btw, dont you think your a little underpowered on light.

Thats no joke! I bet the fish wear sunscreen in that cube :)

haha 300w of MH and a blue tang in a 24g NC

ive seen it all..

i know people are know to be mean and stuff on this site sometimes but after seein that i know why.

2 reasons why I am using 2 sunpods... When using just 1 sunpod, I can't adjust the lighting to cover the whole tank evenly. If I place the light at the center, it seems dark at the front/back of the tank. Also, I like the coral color under 20000k so when I switched the bulb in the sunpod from 14000k to 20000k, it seems a lot darker when using 14000k bulb so that was why I got another sunpod both using 20000k bulb. The brightness of 2 sunpod 150w using 20000k bulb... from my eye it's not any brighter than 1 sunpod 150w using 14000k bulb. Now I like the color of my corals at the brightness that I wanted.

I dont think that you even the second sunpod.

I angled the 2nd sunpod to even out the lighting (sweet spot) through out the whole tank.

In Before The Tang Police!

In all seriousness (:P), nice looking tank. The dual 150w pods is a bit odd but hey - whatever works for you. In the end, if your tanks inhabitants are healthy and happy, then your doing ok. Whats your plan for that hippo tang?

Thank you. I really like the color of my corals under duel 150w (20000K) sunpod and everything (corals & fish) seems very happy. As for my hippo, he shouldl be fine for a year so when he grows up (3+ inches), I'll give/trade him away and get another baby tang.

cool tank i think you still could have the same affect whith one light even being 70 watts.

I tried using 1 sunpod with 20000K and it's too dark. I have to use 2 sunpod using 20000k to get the same brightness as 1 sunpod with 14000k.

Could have set up a 120 for the same price.

120g FO tank Yes but that's not I wanted. I had a 120g that I gave it away about 1/2 years ago and it cost A LOT more to get the same condition/effect as of my 24g right now. To get the same condition as my 24g right now: 120g = bigger tank, more light, bigger skimmer, bigger sump, bigger chiller, more live rocks, more corals to stock up, more electricity, time...etc. So I think 120g would still cost a lot more. :)

I hope you’ll have better luck catching that Tang when it outgrows you tank that I did. They are very quick and very cautious that all I’m gonna say. :D

I had a yellow tang before this tang and I have no problem with catching him. I always hand feed my fish so they're very comfortable with me when my hand is in the tank. Sometimes, I can even touch them when they're swimming. Also, when they get to 3+ inches, it's harder for them to hide in caves. When I was removing my yellow tang, I reach inside the tank with one hand and use the net on my other hand and just pull him up (took me 20 sec.).
