My Neptune and power bar are flashing yellow and the display is blank

I recently purchased a Neptune Gold System. I could not interface with the unit using the web pages, they were blank. I set the lights and temperature controller using the display module. I had to travel for work last week. I came back an tackled the issue with the web pages. I found out this is a frequent problem with new units. I then started the firmware update process. I downloaded the newest version of the software. I disconnected the unit from the wireless router and connected it directly to my computer. I turned off the wireless adapter on my computer and configured the Ethernet adapter on my notebook IPv4 to 192.168.1.10. I started the upload, then all of the modules started flashing yellow (including the power bar). The display module went blank. The firmware never installed. Both Ethernet lights on the unit stay lit except for an occasional blink of the green when the computer is trying to connect. The computer goes from unidentified network, to enabled, to cable unplugged to unidentified network. At this point everything blinks yellow and nothing works. Performed Hardware and Cable test satisfactory.
I could ping the unit at 192.168.1.50
I could not get consistent ok connection.
No apparent external damage.
Power cycled unit several times and changed locations where plugged in power bar.
Help me please. Thanks.

I have never heard anything suggesting support for the statement that "this is a frequent problem with new units" and would be curious where you got this information.

When you load new firmware the Apex is not running a tank program so you are expected to see module's status lights to turn color as they would be running in fallback mode.

You mention that the firmware didn't upload (how can you tell)? You also mentioned that you can ping the Apex; which would not work if the Apex is not running correctly. Are you certain you don't have another device on the network at the same address? Note: If you are using the Apex with DCHP then it may not be at the .50 address.

What color is the Apex LED?

The Apex light is yellow. Don't remember where I got the info, it would only be here. The only thing connected to the network is this computer and the Apex.

That suggests the Apex isn't running which would support your suspicion that the firmware failed to load.

Try the updater again and let me know what it says. I have seen cases where antivirus software can block it but you will see an error. if you have trouble getting the firmware to load you can disconnect the Apex power, start the firmware update and when it starts counting failures connect the Apex power. This is called boot loader mode and is an alternate way to force a firmware load when a previous firmware load failed.

I tried but still same problem

I tried but still same problem

When I look at the adapter page, the Local Area Connection Icon, I keep getting the same series of messages; Cable Unplugged, then Identifying, then Unidentified Network and Cable Unplugged, etc.. My Antivirus/Firewall is turned off. My wireless network is turned off and I am directly connected to the Apex module. I have unplugged everything from the Apex module. My IPConfig is

Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
DHCP Enabled.....................No
Autoconfiguration Enabled.....No
IPv4 Address.......................192.168.0.10 (Preferred)
Subnet Mask.......................255.255.255.0
Default Gateway..................192.168.0.1
DNS Servers........................192.168.0.1
NetBIOS over Tcpip...............Enabled

I then followed your suggestion and nothing changed. The Apex flash utility screen progress bar never moves and the message is uploading (hex file ??). The Apex module and the power bar still blink yellow and no display on the display module. I have checked my network card as well as the cable using the diagnostic tools provided by Windows/Dos. They check out ok. Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

If you are direct connecting the PC to the Apex you will likely need to do some network static configuring as the PC won't be able to get an IP address and neither will the Apex. Are you able to connect the PC and Apex to a router?

Sorry I was late, I was out of the country last night.

Im experiencing the exact same thing, my EB8 is flashing a yellow light and my display unit is black. I have tried to do a firmware update on each module but most of the time I get problems loading the page or unable to connect. I have to go back to access the Apex.

Well how?
Sorry but not much help to me if you don't fill us in on how the fix was done.
Did Neptune fix it, via remote computer help?
