My new 120

I'll head over there and see if I can find any tips.

Definitely give the penductors a try. For only $25, they are worth it.

It's Oceanic. It would have been nice to only have a skinny black center brace, instead of my 5-6" wide glass brace.

If you can't find the parts, then it might make sense to try and buy one at your LFS. I would think that you could find a Koralin or similar for that price online somewhere.

I'm working on that full tank shot, I've got to wait till the halides come on first, so I haven't forgotten about it.

I'm in the very early stages of planing the 120, Thanks.

I'll hold you to it:D .

Picked up some new frags over the weekend. They are all looking great w/ great polyp extensions.

I've been getting some good growth from my m. caps in the last month. Next post I'll show some pictures.

Chris

Thanks, that's one of my new favorites as well. I like the tri-color tenius as well, but it's true color is hard to capture w/ the camera.

Chris

Yea, locally. I guy in our club has a great looking 200g SPS tank that is amazing. I am considering ordering some from Reefer Madness but I think that I may wait till Spring. No sense burning another $150 on frags if the tank isn't ready yet, plus our frag swap is in Nov.

For anyone following this thread:

I checked my ca/alk levels last night, they are a little low again. 380 ppm CA and 8.64 dKH. I added some seachem reef complete and baking soda to help get the levels up a bit. I wonder if my mg levels are off. If I decrease the amount of effulent coming out of the reactor, will this increase or decrease my readings?

Thanks,

Chris

Pretty good growth :) The growth sequence pictures is great. I will have to do that as well once I get some corals in my tank. I hope to be getting a few at the next club meeting at the end of this month! :bounce2: :bounce3:

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to dial in my reactor a little better so that I don't have to keep adding baking soda/reef complete weekly. I moved my pH probe from my reactor to the sump, so that should help things out.

Chris

Nope, sorry. I was about go get into the TX Air National Guard, but ended up not doing into it.

How long were you in the Navy?

Chris

Got a few new SPS frags in the other day and I redid the ca reactor to bring the probe out of the reactor and into the sump. I can now monitor the pH in the tank and if needed, I can drip the effulent water into a small cup and measure it w/ the probe. I built a little probe holder out of acrylic, pictured below.

As you can see, the albrohensis is a little browned out, I'm sure it will color up soon enough.

Here is a picture of the pH probe holder. I think that it turned out alright.

And a picture of my prop section of the sump. This used to be a fuge, but I could never get any macro to grow, so I'm going to convert it to a prop section since I can't convince my wife to let me have another small prop tank. It measures 12Lx16Hx18w.

I have a pair of 29w PC bulbs that I plan on putting down there, along with another mj900 or perhaps this modded mj. This thing puts out some serious flow.

As you can see, I have a bubble tower that was going to be a ca reactor until I found the plans for my current reactor. I'm going to take this out b/c it is fairly large and install a smaller bubble tower that will be off the bottom of the tank so that I can get some flow throughout the whole section.

Let me know what you think.

Hey Chris, things are looking great. Lots of nice new frags! :)

Did you check out the bubble towers Melev made?
They're pretty simple and look to use a very small footprint. He used live rock rubble in the bottom half to break up the microbubbles. I may do something similar to this on my skimmer outlet except with 4" abs...

Yea, I'm going to go with something like that. I just have to get time to make one. Unfortunately, my new colony has had a little outbreak of ostreobium (which I had to hack it up) and now I just noticed that I have red bugs.

Here are some pictures that I just took on my bottle brush.

I guess I'll be doing an interceptor bath tomorrow. Anyone have
any good tips? Should I remove the shrimp and snails?

BTW, how did you do that hyperlink in your post?

Chris

I clicked the "HTTP:/" icon in when I was typing the message; it's in the little vB Code toolbar.

The format if you don't use that is:
(substitue the regular brackets with square braces)
(URL=http://www.url.com)Link name(/URL)
