My new 16g bowfront

Finally got my new 16g bowfront up and running yesterday and today. I basically just broke down my 29 which only had live rock, corals, and snails/inverts in it and put pretty much everything directly into this tank with new sand.

Here's some pics of it as of 4 minutes ago. Its just a bit cloudy still. Oolitic sand is the worst for waiting for it to settle!!! :)

Here's the full tank shot.

My hammer coral not fully open yet (just put the corals in so they're not all the way open since its only been about 10 minutes)

My frogspawn...i'm hoping that once i get my new lights the colors will change a bit and it will be less brown...but the pic shows it more brown than it really is.

Some sort of long polyped toadstool baby that isnt open all the way.

and here's my favorite coral...just kidding! :)

Also, i'd like to ask a question...I had originally planned on using this 29g tank next to it as a sump and have extra rock in there (and experiment w/xenia as a natural filter and a couple other things). But i'm sort of really liking the 16 with just the HOB filter (i'll prolly add a powerhead or another/larger HOB once it all clears up a bit). Its really quiet right now. I'd have no problem just rigging up a 10g ATO.

I've got the HOB overflow and all plumbing/return pumps needed to make the 29 a sump...but i dont know if i really wanna do that anymore. If not, i have no clue what to do w/all the base rock in it now....maybe i'll just convert it to a FO setup, but i dont really care much for FOWLR tanks to be honest...idk
here's how it will look if i use the sump.

Last thing...what would be a good couple/few fish to put in? I got the deep sandbed that would be good for burrowers. The only fish that i've seen that i really want right now is a barnacle blenny...everything else is a toss-up.

ok, much better pictures after the tank has settled down for a few days and i've added a few corals.

GSP on turbo snail shell with a long tube worm connected to the shell too...which is also covered in gsp

lol, ya thats just a little room heater thing since my room is detached from the rest of the house. And its not running anyways. I just crammed it in that corner to save space. It actually doesnt even work which sucks since now i have to buy a new one for winter :(

reefman, right now i just have a 2x65w PC light...the coralife one, but its not the right light for it. Its too long and not as strong as i want anyways. Its just what i had on my 29 and i havent been able to sell it yet to pay for my new MH (HINT HINT!!! if anyone wants a 30" coralife 2x65w w/2 lunar lights.....)

As for fish...not sure what i'll add yet. Any suggestions? I'd like to NOT get clowns, as i've had them in every tank i've ever had

Have you ever tried nuking your aptasia with concentrated kalk mixture in a syringe? Worked pretty well for me when I had them. Sometimes you have to hit them a couple of times because if you dont get a direct hit they will come back.

I wish most every other coral was as hardy as that stinkin aptasia...

ya the syringe that i have was just too thin to let that joes juice and similar products through, and i just never got a bigger needle. But i did try hot water on one and vinegar on another and they both seemed to work, so thats my weekend project....kill the aptasias.

I know everyone else is saying it, but the GSP on the Turbo snail is my highlight aswell! Ive had xenia on a hermit crab before, but the GSP is awesome!

Great looking aquascaping too! :)

Thanks ;) I'll be trying to put corals on some random things eventually too. Like growing zoas on a beer bottle or something like that would be pretty cool i think. I saw a local guy who had one of those scuba diver tank decorations (the ones that bubbles come out of the mask) and he had gsp growing on its head, so it looked like he had hair lol. And then eventually it was all purple from coraline too.

sirdude, looking nice.

Just FYI, in my 16g, I overfilter with: aquaclear 30gallon, aswell as a bak pak skimmer, and finally a powerswing powerhead in it.
My canopy is really meant to hang, tho I mod'd to sit on tank, so all the equipment is hidden behind it.

Here are my fish--you will understand I'm kinda breaking the rules here. I have LOTS of rocks (maybe 20 pounds) that are pretty tall, so lots of area for fish to swim around and hide in lower 2/3 of tank--I have a 6-line and a fridmani pseudochromis.
Had the fridmani about 7 months, the 6-line about 4 months. They actually seem to be a nice combo of semi-aggressives together, they do a little chasing of each other, but doesn't seem to bother either. Also have a coral banded and a pistol shrimp. Hoping to add a shrimp goby. Don't think I have any pix--will check.

Doglover- is that regular FW gravel substrate?

sirdudeguy- is the 16 on the same system as the 29 I can see on the floor? Will you be getting a MH pendent or a strip?
