My new 180g

I got a little done tonight before it got dark. I got the front stand skin cut w/doors and built the fuge stand. NOTE: I haven't put the trim on the stand or finished it! The 15 gallon auto topoff resovoir will be in the fuge stand as you see in the picture. The little hole is where the refill door will be.

I'm picking up the stand from the powdercoater tomorrow morning, I'll post pics tomorrow night!

Oops, forgot the pics...

Oh, as you see I decided to go with 2 large doors instead of 3 small doors. I'll have better access to the sump area this way.

WOW, looks really really nice. When out get the trim on that will set if off and make it look sharp!!

Thanks Ed. I have SO much crap still to build, paint, stain, assemble in the next week and a half. Not to mention I'll be gone for 5 days in the middle.......

You're right, I think I have the trim planned pretty well, it's all going to look great!

Oh WOW!

That looks great Mike. If it were me, I would be half tempted to leave it exposed and build cabinets inside :-P

I got my canopy rough-built tonight. Here it is with the lid open:

Here's the front with the trim and accents just laid in place:

I'm going to paint the insides tonight.

That looks nice Mike. I was snooping arond HD and Lowes for some decorative fish or sea related wood trim pieces and could find nothing. I will try some online stores.

Wouldn't it look cool to have a scallop trim, or large fish on the stand doors. Hmmm, I have too many ideas. No wonder why the projects take me so long to complete.

. . . looking good!

Thanks Scott.
Try the crafts section of walmart and Michaels. They have wood "blanks" of different designs. The rectangle things in the picture are supposed to be nameplate blanks.

Well, the tank didn't come back today. :( So it'll be at least next Wednesday or Thursday.

Since it'll be at least another week, I hooked up the 1/3 hp chiller I bought for the 180 to my 55. I gotta tell you, it really cools a 55 quick!

Wow, your stand looks very nice... wish I have the skills and the know how of making a metal stand.

Made my out of 2X4s with a really simple design...

superman, thanks.

Your stand looks a lot like the original one I built for my 55. What size tank goes on yours?

I would put braces inbetween the top and bottom frame .....You are relying on screws to hold all the weight. Here are a few pics of my 180framing and 120 framing.
