Hello all! As some of you may know, I purchased a 375 gallon tank here in Florida a little while back. Unfortunately the home we had setup to move into with the new tank turned out to be a scam...and the place we settled on as our backup would not fit the tank into the home. Or so I thought...this is where you all come in.
The tank is 96"x30"x30" but my ceilings are only about 84" and so I'm not able to get the tank in and stand it up...as I would with a 6 foot tank. Also about 3' inside the front door is a wall, so it's NOT coming in that way.
There is a garage which would work, but the door from the garage to the house is small...30" exactly and that's if I take the door trim off. But the stand is 31.5". Won't work there either. I have sliding glass doors in my bedroom that would work, but then the door coming out of the bedroom to the house is angled and you guessed it, there's a wall about 3 feet out that won't let me turn the tank into the house.
And this is the same doorway out of the bedroom, but a close up:
I don't want it setup in my garage, nor my bedroom...
As bad as I want my tank, I've been trying to figure this out without tearing a wall out to get it in. I post here hoping some of you have fought with large tanks and can help me out.
The ONLY thing I can think of is going through a window. There is a pair of windows in my daughter's room that are HUGE. They are 4'x4' and there are 2 of them side by side. They are made by PELLA and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to maybe take one out and get the tank and stand through the window. There is a double door to that bedroom so if I can get it through the window, it's into the house! I'm NOT handy however and don't know how to take the windows out. The bottom part folds right out for cleaning, but I haven't figured out how to get it all the way out...same goes for the top window. These windows are VERY new and should come out, I'd think. Also, I need the molding piece in the middle to come out so I'd have the whole 4' to work with.
Does ANYONE know how to take windows out? lol Oh and they have to go back in and look like nothing ever happened.
Also, the windows are only 3 feet off of the ground. The window is accessible from the backyard, so technically a truck could be backed right up to the window and the tank slid in from there. I was going to build a wooden frame so it will literally slide into the house on this frame and protect the bottom of the window frame.
Does all of this sound crazy? Anyone with a large tank that has run into similar problems please chime in! All the help I can get would be great.
Thanks!
