My New AGE tank build! It's big! ~1500g DT

That's a great way to do it IMO, better than losing six to something in QT, kinda like a secondary QT. Maybe not possible for everyone but if you have the means awesome approach.

Definitely want to follow this along. I like the idea of the Solatubes. Did you ever end up getting PAR readings from them? Accenting with filters? Final decisions on supplemental lighting?

Sorry about the delay in updates. Unfortunately it seems with a bigger tank, stuff takes longer. I had several months of cyano fighting, then several months of hair algae fighting. I didn't really want to post pictures of that. One thing I have learned is that things seem to go much slower in this size tank in terms of cycles.

Right now I have a frag outbreak. It's hard to see in the FTS. With a tank four feet or so front to back, nice looking polyps are hard to see. It's really about big splashes of color which I won't have alot of until the frags grow out.

Maintenance is still pretty easy with the genesis system. Right now I'm not getting much par from the solartubes since the sun is low in the sky this time of year. Growth is pretty good, but I'm having trouble keeping my calcium up high enough. Very little coralline.

That looks fantastic. I love the rock work, lots of room for your fish to swim. I'm going to redo my 350G soon, hoping it will look as good as this. Andrew

WOW!

The photo doesn't show the sheer scale of that tank...unless you look at the yellow tang on the left............

it'll be simply amazing when your corals grow out! Who needs TV?

I love the tank. The rock work looks terrific. Honestly, without corals this thing looks great so I imagine once those grow in it'll be super impressive.

And I like the little Christmas theme decor in the front left corner. :0) Do you change this scene with each season? It's a fun idea.

Any plans to add a blue unicorn (Naso brevirostris)?? That would be epic!

Thank you, I really like the open look myself and studied many minimalist rockscapes in coming up with this one.

Yes, for reference, the yellow tangs are about 4" long right now.

I do change the theme as parts are available! Here's a pic from when I put them in.

And here is Halloween!

As far as a Naso, my wife hates them so I doubt I'll put one in. I'd never hear the end of it.

So all tangs in the Naso genus? Or the commonly called "Naso" tang? Do a quick search for Blue unicorn (naso brevirostrus) and show pics and the adult to your wife. They are pretty stellar! :0)
