Reefing4fun - from what I understand smaller clams do not need as much light as they also rely on their filter feeding equipement untill their mantle is large enough to contain enough zoozanthellae to support itself on light alone . The " to feed of not to feed " has been done to death so all I will say is if Barry @ Clams Direct gets increased growth rate by doing so then so will I .
That is my Deresa which I grew from about 4 inches to 11 in less than two years and is still growing like mad . I also have another Deresa which is about 5 inches .
