Found this guy at a new LFS and checked him out in store following different tests to check a healthy clam...mantle extension, closes up when covering light, check foot, etc.

I could not be happier with this guy. The picture isn't the best but I'll try to get a better one tonight.

My only question is this...I had him up near the light, he jumped off. I put him in a different spot and he jumped again. Should I leave him be on the sand or move him up higher?

Regardless of where he's at there's full mantle extension and I don't have anything picking on him.

Congrats on the new clam! I'm no expert on clams, but I do know that you'd be better off allowing the clam to attach itself to a small piece of live rock on the bottom of your tank first. Then you will be able to move the clam throughout your tank very easily. Just place the clam on top of a flat piece of live rock on your sandbed or at the bottom of your tank and give it a day-a couple days to attach its foot. Once attached you're good to go. Congrats again and goodluck!!!
