my new blue protopalys

I really like these. The blue is light blue and kind of metallic or shiny. Very cool... I've never seen anything but brown or green in protopalys, but these have the characteristic sand in the stalks (I think that's the defining characteristic). You can sorta see it as white specks on the smaller polyp in the back. Anyone seen anything like these before? The polyps are big; maybe the size of a dime. I'm thinking of submitting them to zoaid. What should I call them?

Their protopalys in the mold of the Nuclear Greens and Purple Deaths, I've seen these around. Coloration will also slightly vary depending on tank parameters, lighting and placement.

Really? I didn't think PDs or NGs were protos. My purple deaths aren't nearly the same size, and they don't even really have stalks, so I can't see whether they have sand in them. They also don't have the long, tentacle-like skirts that these or my brown protos have. You're right about the coloration though. In higher light they have the more solid, nice blue. In lower light it becomes more dull and spotty.

same goes with the browns... brown in bottom of tank.. silverish coloration with brown hints on high light... care full when fragging these guys.. i got hit in the eye a few weeks ago.. got sent to hospital and sick for over 2 weeks.
