quick question: ive read that if you buy a baby clam that is under 2" you should feed it phyto... this clam is just over 2", should i worry about it? or is what i read relly not true?

thanks!
Victor

nice clam. we have about the same color pattern as my new derasa
I'm no clam expert or anything but wouldn't the large opening that expose the organs a sign of stress or not enough light?

Victor

if your tank is well established and you feed you fish regularly theres no need to add food just for the clam

Croceas tend to hold there incurrent syphons open like that. its nothing to worry about

thanks... yea, the tank has been up and running for just over 2 years...

sorry, when I mean about, not with the whitish thing. it does have little tourquise (sp?) lines with deep blue/purpleish mantle. hope this is a derasa (equals easier to maintain, correct?)as the LFS said.

well derasas arent necessairly 'easier' to maintain they are just naturaly found in the sand of the ocean floor which means they dont necessairily require as much light as say a crocea or maxima.

i had a derasa kept him at the bottom of the tank... had him for about a year and 1/2...
