very nice, unfortunately this is another of those creatures that should be left in the ocean. they are non-photosynthetic and will require lots of feeding and still may not survive very long.

sorry for the bad news and i hope you are more successful than others that have tried keeping them.

and here is a link to some info that may help :)

I had one of these guys thrown in with some other things I had shipped to me about 4 months back, and mine seems to be doing fine. I would have never bought one outright, since I generally hear things like what a4twenty mentioned. (I don't disagree with him in general, btw. I haven't heard too many success stories..)

However, my flame seems to be doing fine so far. I spot fed him phyto for the first couple of weeks about two times a week, but stopped doing that quite a while back. I might just be lucky, not sure.

Also, I would be surprised if your scallop stays out front like that, expect him to find a nice dark place and shuffle over to it. I don't generally see mine unless I take some time to find his newest spot, which is usually not too visible.

I'm waiting for him to find his new spot. I'm not expecting him to be out front, that's for sure! He's doing fine so far, ate some phyto today, so that's a good sign!

toad sprocket i hope you know that it takes a few months for a flame scallop to die of starvation so i would start feeding it phyto again.

tubeworm... Sorry for not being more clear. I still feed my tank phyto, I just don't spot feed my scallop anymore. He gets plenty to eat. :-)
