My new Carpet anemone....

First day in the tank 5 inches 2nd day in the 10 - 12 inches and eating anything that comes his way... 3 days in the tank 12 inches and been in the same place and tentacles vibrating like crazy. Ate Some Rods food on the second day and a couple straggling mysis this morning.

Long story behind the carpet and its an amazing one. Heres a tidbit this anemone was ripped down the middle when the first owner moved some rock. Since december it has completely healed and doubled in size.

It def is loving the flow in my tank.

It def is loving the flow in my tank.

At night it moves down the side of the rock work for less flow and during the day it moves back up to the top to be in direct flow.

heyooo

heyooo

and so the expansion and final resting spot begins.

This morning the gigantea got into the slowest war i have ever seen with one of my RBTAS. Now my Rbtas are all huddled to getting far enough away.

I got stung today by the gigantea on my fingers. its almost feels like a small electrical shock.

here are some new pics. Some with flash some with just actinic no flash.

Thanks guy

The female is about two years in my possesion and the male i just got from BLUE ZOO.

The female has a forked tail and her old male mate didnt. The new male has a forked tail as well. So i am hoping this is a going to show up in the offspring. They also both have faint blue in their stripes. The males second stripes still extends up his fins.

Luckly he knew to shimmy as soon as he saw her. After the actinics go out every night she swims him over to the RBTAS and then swims back to the gigantea.

The gigantea is about a 1.5 years in captivity. The first owner ripped it long ways after moving some rocks around. It comepletely healed. In his 60 cube the base looked like a cone. It was reaching for flow.

I will attach some pics tonight of how the flow blows the outer petal up to reveal the verracruce. WHAT color would you call this Gigantea?
I say tan, gf says peach, you say?

Out of all the different anemones i have had this thing has the most strength. My girlfriends fed it some mysis with metal tongs and it was pulling back at her.

ive never been a big akindynos fan, but they sure do come off striking from time to time. sweet set up!

Mine never shrinks all the way down like a bubble tip. It gets a little smaller at night maybe loses a inch or two. It maybe goes from 14 inches to 10.
I feed it everday with a couple floating mysis. I have found with this anemone lots of small feedings help. Either its some of rods food for hikira mysis.

Its def a beauty.

How old is your tank? It looks brand new without any algae growing on the walls or bottom. Very nice anemone and clowns too! I'd say that it is a peach-ish color. By the way...what kind of camera do you use? Your shots are awesome!

The tank is 2 months old, the water and rock is from my system of about 2 years. I did a tank move when i found out i was getting this anemone.

The only thing in the tank is the GBR pair and the carpet and some select frags.

Its a canon rebel eos
