The have a really nice effect and only us about 1-2w of power. I only run them about 8hrs a day. Cant hardly wait to get my levels stable and load this thing full of corals!!
Interesting... They look neat, but I don't care how the light doesn't really blend together... it looks like two different color spot lights... looks good, though.
I like how bright they are, but I think the single strip with the alternating lights would be more appeasing to the eye. I also read that they are not meant to sustain corals by themselves.
"Q: Can I use the PowerBrites to sustain my corals and anemones?
A: The PowerBrites are not designed to sustain light requiring animals, although they may enhance the growth
and look of the corals and anemones in the aquarium when added to a system with an existing lighting
system."

I do like the idea of adding these as supplements to my tank. I might have to check these out next weekend.

They're supposed to be at a minimum, 6" above the water surface... I'm sure that if they were raised, it would eliminate, or at least subdue, the "spotlighting effect"...
I have not seen the daylight ones in use except for those pix you just posted. I do see what you are talking about w/ the spotlight look. W/ the actinics on my 46 bow 9i use them as supplement for some t5s I have. Also for moon lites for 3 hours after reg. lites go off. The do not have the spotligh look w/ th t5s and when being used as moon lites it does but I 'm kinda of show casing a few corals that it is above so I guess I don't notice or mind it as much. The lfs I go to has a low lite coral tank(90 corner) and w/ just 3 sets of actinics( about $180) the tank looks so good! I bought a coral from it and the employees admited that the colors will not be the same in my tank as in his because of the power brites. I bought one the next time I went to the store. What a great sales method. He said he knew of a lfs owner who went exclusivly w/ these lites on most of his tanks.
