My new office tank!

Ok I finally got my new tank up and running. It's a 125 gal that I put in my office. The best part about having it in my office is I get to write off my hobbie for taxes... the bad part, I have to clean it.

If you have any ideas on how to fill in the 'dead' space above my tank to balance this wall out a bit feel free to comment.

I put in a double overflow where only one pipe is being used so I could regulate the water syphoning down the pipe and if it clogs it will go to the second as a back up. Very very nice to finally have ZERO noise.

I just used angled PVC couplings and put egg create in the end to help with flow direction and keeping critters out.

My very fancy switch to turn on/off actinics and whites. I didn't think far enough ahead to wire them each for different timmers but it's in my office so I'll just have it go full boar all the time anyway.

Edit: not sure why these pics don't just come up like the rest.

You could fill up the space by buying a tank and stand that takes up the entire wall :-)

LOL I certainly could... but I don't think Tonya who works in my office would see the humor in it ;) I on the otherhand will have to suggest it when I go into work and test the waters!

I didn't build that stand, a guy up here did and I was left with the sanding and staining of it. I did make the hood which as you can tell lacks the same level of detail!

Ahh grasshopper, but the words I see are "who works in my office" and "I certainly could". Let me talk to Tonya and in just a minute or 2 I will have her convinced that it would be to her benefit.

Excellent! With that in the office I wouldn't mind working late.

The rock work is perfect, plentyof rock yet plenty of interesting hiding places. Do you have a build thread? I'd love to keep up on the progress.

Ummmm.... I guess this would serve as it :o Since I didn't make the stand I got no pics and the hood was very basic so no pics there either. The one thing I did like was the round vents I used. LOTS of room for air flow but you can't see ANY light through the slats unless you crouch so no one gets blinded!

I will certainly post more pics as I add fish and corals... oh and since I used all dead rock and sand I'll have some pics shortly of my mad algae farm too!!!

On the rocks I drilled the whole thing for acrylic rods for extra support (no landslides) but was able to do some arches I couldn't have otherwise.

Stuffed my sump with pollyfil to lessen the milk white cloud after turning on the pumps the first time. Works exceeding well.

Not a high light set up but works

New Lighting Option!!! I hope to add these instead when they become available VERY COOL and WAY better then LED's

I really like these power strips with the water proof plugs. I put it into a removable GFCI as I didn't want the landlord to pitch a fit.

Bland pic of my Royal Gramma - itty bitty

Updated tank shot... I had to add the fish faster then I'd like because it was the only time I'd likely be able to get the potter's. As you can tell the algae is almost in full swing and I'm skimming as much as I can to clear up the water. The hook are to hold the curtin the covers the glass while it looks nasty.

It's hard to tell on the mushrooms but they have red spots on all the bumps

This is actually a really large silver doller size paly

By far my favorite... they have gotten real purple since I picked them up. There is a little more green in the centers but the camera didn't pick it up

My neon green toadstool hasn't been extending so hopfully now in the new tank it will start to again... I put it in a bit more flow.
n13940732_44801951_4009.jpg

yellow elegance leather... darkened up a bit in last tank so hopefully the little bit brighter lights will start to bring out that pineapple yellow again.

I broke down and hated to do it but I needed more flow in the tank so I added my two mods to my display which helped a ton.
n13940732_44802109_5247.jpg

I added a few more corals.

I forget what this actually is. Actually about twice the size of what you can see (sliver doller)

n13940732_44924032_5298.jpg

this is the Hells Kitchen. Color is really a deeper red and eventually the eyes turn golden.
n13940732_44923953_9003.jpg

think it is a Pavona? Really nice rusty red in person and I have to get better at my sps names.
n13940732_44924034_6253.jpg

This is what happens when you don't have enought light for your rainbow monti... looks crappy but keeps on growing. Hopfully the lights in this tank will bring the color back.
n13940732_44924033_5814.jpg

These are my two Qween Conch's... all that growth is in just 1 week from putting them on a calcium based sand. Up till now they spent the last 7mo's on a silica sand and didn't grow at all!
