3 weeks in my care the wrasses are doing good. Here's a group shot of them along with my pair of clowns.

Nice looking fish. Nice to see them out in the open.
So it sounds like these fish can be difficult to feed pellets. Are these considered hard(er) to feed fish? Do they generally take frozen (mysis, reef frenzy etc) or is it common to have to feed them live food?
I assume they hunt and eat pods all day like many wrasses, correct?
Are these fish high on the "Likely to Jump" list like some other wrasses?

They are fairly easy to keep and most will readily accept frozen food. However, it's uncommon for them to accept dry food, at least pellets. Because I travel and often utilize an automatic fish feeder I only buy fish that eats pellets. They are definitely hunters. As with all the wrasses they can be jumpers but my current tank is uncovered (not for much longer though).

Yellow banded is my favorite out of all three pygmy wrasses.

Thanks, good information. Glad to hear they'll take frozen easily.
Got a PW on my LFSs to-order list for a few months now. Owner says he hasn't seen them on multiple wholesalers' lists. Says they're "seasonal"'whatever that means. Hoping it's not an excuse for "I forgot".
I'm looking forward to getting this fish. I've got a Royal Gramma with a bit of attitude. He never touches another fish but will occasionally dart at another fish at feeding time. He drove my timid but once out front yellow assessors behind the rock work. And it drove a previously alpha fire fish behind the rocks and it eventually disappeared. I know this fish is cryptic & that's fine, just hoping it can hold his own.

DD currently has quite a few possum wrasses. So if they are in fact seasonal now is the time to get them.

I had a yellowband in my old 95g tank that disappeared for a few weeks so I figured he was a goner so I bought another...as soon as I released the new one into the tank the original came out and swam right after it! They stayed on their own sides of the tank for a few months but eventually I only had the original one! So id be careful adding a second after having one established. I have a yellow band now that eats everything in the tank! It has great color...one of the deeper browns Ive ever seen! My favourite fish! Now if I can just find a pink streaked wrasse my wrasses collection will be complete!!

My w. albofasciata takes pellets and frozen food. It took him a week or so to accept the pellets, but once he figured it was food, he goes for it all the time. I have an AFS, and when the return pump shuts off, all of the fish go to the "feeding" corner and hang out until the food drops. These guys are like miniature sling-jaws w/o the aggression, unless you're a little pod.

I wonder how they would do in a 100 gallon tank with a couple of fairy and flasher wrasses, and possibly a tang. Thoughts anyone?
