His mouth closed up nicely about 1 hr after eating.. so I guess this is normal?

Day5 Update:
He's still looking good but doesn't appear as healthy as I'd like him to be. He hasn't moved an inch since I placed him in the tank 5 days ago. However, his mouth is not tightly closed. 50% of the time the mouth is just barely open and the other 50% of the time the mouth is open a few millimeters with both siphonoglyphs sticking out. It's never gaping when it is open and usually oval in shape. He did inflate and deflate a few times but he actually did not look bad when he was deflated (just looked smaller). I feed him two pieces of small krill and he took it fast.
I didn't have any window screen so I put a I put a mesh net over the tank for him and he was really expanded and reaching up. That was the first day. The next day, I went to home depot and got the window screen. I put two layers for him. I know the sandbed where he is attached is around 120-130 par. Since placing the window screen, he hasn't really been as inflated and actually appears to be more inflated when the lights start to dial down. What does that mean? I removed one of the screens because at 120 par (without screens) I don't think he will be sunburnt. The single screen is probably going to bring that par down to 90 right now.
Any other advise? Should I take out the final window screen too? He has not expelled any zoox and has no brown or smoke substance came out of him either. The LFS had him on T5s and my guess is the tank par was around 125-175 where he was sitting. Just want to make sure this one guy stays for good
I also did a water change last night and checked all the parameters; everything looks great. I'll try to post pics tonight.

Ya i wasn't planning to feed him again for a while. I just wanted to eliminate that he was "hungry" and therefore opening his mouth a little. The mouth is about as big as a dime at its worse.

Well, he's looking better. Mouth is much more tighter and he is expanded.. I changed the water and removed one of the window screens last night so not sure which it was, probably both!

Bleh... very strange.. I came home last night and he was floating in the water. His mouth is still closed or almost closed and otherwise appears healthy.. I cant get him to attach to the glass anymore. I think the sand is too deep for his foot, so when he shrinks, he detatches. It's only 4".
Anyway, I put a flat piece of rock under the sand and got him to attach on that. I'm going to cover that flat rock with sand once I confirm he is firmly attached.

I'm not sure if the sand is too deep and that's why it was detaching. My red haddoni foot is buried under about 3" of sand. When it shrinks at night, the mouth goes into the sand with it. Haddoni will go into the sand rather than detach itself.
And judging by the size of yours, I don't think 4" of sand os too deep for it.
How long has your tank been set up? Rocks look to be new with little to no coraline.

Also, I've seen mine pushed out the sand for its foot to be buried. So the 4" of sand shouldn't be the problem.

The current tank is an upgrade 5 months ago. Everything transferred over fine including acros, rbta, cocoworms, etc. Half the rock I used was new reefsaver's baserock and the other half was my old liverock. I wanted to redo the scrap.
Well, for now he is barely attached to a rock by the sand. His foot really is barely grazing the sand now. I hope he will crawl into a spot he likes.

Curious, how long does it take yours to push the sand so the foot is buried? How does it do that if he isn't attached to anything? Wouldnt they float.

They only float when they are not happy or trying to find a place they like. I hope your water is good and stable. If it does not attach soon try to find it a good home with someone else. That is a awesome creature and would hate for it to die.

I thought they move around with their foot to find a place they like? If he floats again, should I just let him float where he wants? Seems like he has no control over where to go if he just floats.

Thanks, I think that might be it. He's attached to the rock by the sand pretty well now. I'll just leave him alone
I wonder why most haddonis on LA are always labeled "This carpet anemone prefers to attach to a solid surface such as a rock" but most people have them attached to glass through sand. But I guess glass is considered "solid".

Both of my Haddonis like the area where sand meets up to the rock work. If it floats like that again make sure power heads are covered or could be trouble!

Im running a 600GPH return and two MP10s running at about 65%. Right now, I have the MP10s turned off until he attached to the rock or glass.
Its weird because the foot was very long and skinny the first day and that made it easy to get him to attach in the sand. Right now his foot is fat and short. The day lights are starting to come on now so maybe he will expand out and attach.
Here's a pic of how he's attached right now. It's not firmly attached but hopefully in a few hours he will get a better grip.
