My new Red Sea Max

It doesn't look big, but compared to my 12g aquapod its huge and bright.

With a lot of elbow grease we got the stand together (sorry not a lot of time to take pics with work and school and everything) and got the whole thing assembled mostly the way they say to do it.

The instruction manual wants you to put a bunch of weird ceramic stuff and sponges and what not in but hey, this is reefing with liverock so we sort of ignored those suggestions and are going to use a pura pad.

This has 44g of uncured rock in it at the moment with another 12 or so ready to go in when I tear down the aquapod.

It's got 2 pumps that don't need to be upgraded to reef readiness that spit out a decent amount of water, they just happen to be right next to each other.

I put a Koralia 1 in there to help the curing\cycling process and already have nitrite readings yay! (You can tell when the ammonia is almost done from the smell going away). I wanted a chance to toy with these new pumps and what better way. It may end up getting extra usage depending on the flow I want or need in any of my tanks.

It comes stock with a heater and skimmer. Had some issues with microbubbles with the skimmer. We gave it a scolding and a good kick in the rear and now it seems to be doing okay. We overfilled it a teeny bit so it isn't exactly surface skimming and sand will go in once the cycle is complete but so far, very impressed.

It's toting 2x55w 50\50 lights which are super bright PCs compared to the aquapods 2x27W (they almost look yellow in comparison) Red Sea markets these as "T5 PC " lights though since they are smushed into the T5 diameter. There's no individual reflectors though, just the usual kind you see thats all krinkly.

So far I'm a satisfied customer- everything it comes with plugs into a hidden power center and only one cord comes out the back so it has a very very clean appearance.

Can't wait to start stocking - got to get stuff to go along with my bicolor blenny and goby(s)\shrimp family

Lookin good! Sorry I'm not making it up for the Conference on sat, but with work and everything I can't. Good luck with all that! Hope this tank gets rolling! I love that tank so much!

Sweet tank. How many tanks you got in that house now? My power went out today...I bet it was when you plugged that thing in.

Whatcha gonna do with that aquapod?

Haha no that power blip was on your block too huh? It happened the other day too. I always have to check my pumps and powerheads to make sure nothing was too gunky to turn back on. Would suck to have everything go out for a day when it goes out for .5 seconds.

Thanks for the compliments :) Right now there's the 55g, 34g, 12g, the empty 125g that will probably get setup as my graduation present in the ... spring maybe? :) kevins 3g and the 2.5g I setup for the evil pistol shrimp. And the beta tank.

I should probably fear waking up and drowning or something :) I also need lots of help for I am an addict.

The 12g is going to get torn down and probably get traded or sold to support the addiction but it wont be for a little while yet. I also know a person who sort of claimed it if I do get rid of it but if anything changes it'll go up on here.

If anything I'd like to have less tanks than more;p

Keith man you work so hard I totally understand but come visit sometime when you get a chance- hows that paly frag doing I'd never cut them before so my fingers are crossed!

I have to work tomorrow and make it to the meet and greet. Sleep tonight? I think not!

I wanted to enter some frags into the auction too but with everything going on and school on top I think I'm going to save them the hassle since the deadline was yesterday too ;p

Maybe I can thin out some stuff for one of our later meetings around the holiday and bring some nice stuff in for us locals ;p My one class I'm taking this summer has turned into a colossal pain in me rear hehe

Thanks again for the compliments!

It'll have my bicolor blenny, my two yellow watchmans and their pistol, I think my misbar clown pair so they'll be out of the way for the latz going into the 55.. I think I could squeeze one or two more small fish in there since the others are really relatively small. With weekly water changes I don't see why not and I'm pretty religious about those.

I'll just take it one fish at a time though so I don't freak out the system.

I really want a pair of onyx clowns but I love my misbars so I don't know what I'll do in that department.
