My New Reef Tank

I have been out of the hobby for several years now and had ordered a 90 gallon RR tank with the All Glass Mission Series Cherry stand and canopy from a LFS in Indiana and will be picking it up on saturday and start setting it up.

I have ordered a ASM G3 for the setup and that will come in next monday.

I plan on using a 30 gallon tank for a sump/fuge/skimmer.

Just need to get the skimmer here and figure out my baffles then silicone them in and get it ready for plumbing.

Anyone have suggestions for a return pump?

I plan on hard plumbing the tank (I think).

Also not sure about lighting until I get the canopy saturday to figure out how much room I have but have my eyes set on 2x 250 watt HQI's with lumenarc reflectors and possibly some cooling fans for them.

I still need to order some salt and some live sand.

I will be ordering some live rock at an amazing price but not sure if I want to go with the coralline rock or the deco rock.

If anyone has any suggestions or what not...let me know. Once I get the tank and etc home...I will start posting pictures of my system being built.

Sound like you have it pretty well planed. Id use a mag 7 or maybe a 5. Too much flow through the sump can cause bubbles to get through the baffles and make it back to the tank, only reason to go for a 5 rather than the 7. Or an enhiem 1270? I think, that would be more expensive but are supposed to be quieter. Your lighting sounds good but are you thinking about adding T5's for sunset and rise effect? Also just an fyi there is someone on ebay selling new pfo dual hqi balasts, I dont know if there cheaper than a vendor but just letting you know.

Good luck with your project

I am going to go with a Mag 18

I ordered a Pro 3616 X/G from Ecoaquarium Aquariums

I bought my new ASM G3 from Marinedepot

Plan on hard plumbing it all and using both holes in my tank for drains

Remember tank is an All Glass Mega Flow tank

I am going to post some pics of the way the tank sets now

Waiting for the plumbing to come from Aquatic Eco, the fuge to come in, and find a pump for a return

Also I have my salt ready...need to find a food grade 55 gallon barrel for the ro water...

I am going to use 2 20lb bags and one 10lb bag of the indo pacific black sand aprox 1" thick. They suggest no deeper then that with the miracle mud fuge

Well some changes have been made once again.... can't seem to quite figure out what to do next as stuff is being delivered that I ordered.

I bought a mag24 from a fellow reefer off here.

The sump/fuge came in as well as the skimmer last week.

I am going to have to do some changes to the plumbing then originally planned. but so far everything looks awesome.

I worked on the plumbing today and figured out the way I want it all to be before gluing it.

Some shots...

no i think you did say g3, but they're practically the same skimmer and i'd imagine it'd improve the g3 as well

It might but I have very limited space to do much inside the skimmer compartment and filter sock area. But a few have suggested it to me
