My new sump

As some know, I started a 60 cube a few months back, and had quite a bit of fun building it. However, I am moving from a sump in the stand to a remote sump room directly behind it. Inky has been building my new sump and here it is. One question I do have is should I paint the back and bottom black for better contrast?

Nice job on the sump!

If you paint it, I'd vote for white not black. Much easier to see anything you drop. You know anything you drop will be black! Murphy rules! :)

I didn't think of that. I want my sump to continue to look good, so do you think painting the back, side and bottom would look good?

That's a dynamite sump!!

similar layout to mine... I painted the back and sides of mine but not the bottom. I wish I had now LOL. I like the look of painted. White might actually look pretty cool with all of the black baffles and such.

I didn't paint mine. It's on white foam so the bottom is white. ;)

I know if I painted the sides that would be exactly when I'd drop some small, hard to replace part into the now unseeable space. :lolspin:

Will the intake sit above the filter socks?
I see in the 2nd pic that it's movable. Just curious how it will look when running. Also, I think black will look good for the sides and bottom, but white on the bottom would look interesting as well. However, the white will show all the detritus.

The overflows do sit about the socks. The water enters the overflow, drops about a foot then comes back up and flows over the socks. It's a great system. I have the sump up and running. However, I don't have my wiring cleaned up yet so It's a bit messy looking. I did decided not to paint the sump as I like it just the way it is. I am going to paint the 30 gallon fuge black though.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.
