i got a huge colony of that once for 30 bux. it had no joke 60 polyps. from a store. I sold enough of it to make back my profit and still had about 25-30 polyps left. Never did sun polyps in my tank before. It didnt go so well most are dead now. I have about 5 heads left. good luck

CND$36 in the Thursday, was close to $60 - at the weekend, the same store. Who could know?


cl2ysta1: you have a chance to revive it, if you wish - just feed it, the first times in container, for probably 40 min, shaded by newspaper, or something like this, food should be moved several times. It should be meaty, like this:

Yep, I fed it 1/2 cube of mysis while it was aclimating.

I've tried feeding it. The polyps havent extended since i've got it. the remaining heads you can see the skeleton at the bottom. they are not attached together anymore. I'll try what you said though doing it in a container.. and shade it with a newspaper?

i was going to get one of those this past week...

decided against it when the guy told me it was pretty much a full shade guy with zero daytime activity, only coming out at night to feed...

i have a very nice cave i could put one in though...but i think i will save that spot for a Chille coral instead..

good luck reviving the poor guy though..

well i fragged it off when i got it and actually ended up getting a large chunk for free. apparently the other chunks are doing well. The dark spot i chose wasnt dark enough i suppose.. not to escape the two 400w halides

I wouldn't say - zero day time activity:

Opens every time after sensing food in the column (3 times daily for a fish in this tank).
Before that - in 6g, less fed - less open:

Started to eat in a separate container, with high concentration of the food, floating around:

Was shaded, because there were 200W lights above the kitchen counter
Later, was fed in the heated pico, with 100% water changes after thant, was there for a months.

Tried this too:

Mostly is feed by baster.

Sun or chili:
Have both, and the sun is tens times easier - only hassle to feed. But - very colorful.
The chili is nocturnal (as far as I know), and, depending how frequently the tank is fed, will be open from late evening and night only - to the significant part of the day (when food is given 8 times during the day, what is not good for a water quality).

BTW, comparing to the chili, non-photosynthetic red finger gorgonian has similar polyps, only bigger, and is easier to feed because of that, and observe. Is in opened state longer, than chilis:

The same again: more food - looks better.
