My New T. Gigas

I have had him for a week now. These pics are right out of the box. He is fully exytending now. Awesome that is all I have to say about it.

hey a420 I had just put him in hte tank and took that pic. I have a purple tang, manderin goby, 7 green chromis, ,2 maroon clowns, royal gramma, and a kole tang. Every one is leaving him alone. He is out and fully extended now. Thanks, Mike

got a question....
I've got a BB 180, but I didn't put anything under my gigas. why did you put that square piece under yours? They don't hatch on to things (like the croceas, maxis, etc), so I don't understand why you'd put something under it? just curious....

Hey There:
I didn't know if he would attach or not so I put a marble tile under him just in case. I turned it upside down so the surface is a little rough. This is my first Gigas so I put the tile down. If he doesn't attach I will probably take it out some time in the future. Being on the tile, if the clam gets mad and shuts quick you can really hear it. He rocks around quite a lot. Very nice clam you got there btw. Take care, Mike

I would go ahead and take the tile out unless you just like it there. It will never attach. They don't have a "foot" like the other clams.

gigas do have a foot they just dont use it at a point where there weight will hold them in a spot at that size he will not attach mine is about 3 inches less and has never attached. And where did u get him?

I got the clam from www.paradisereef.us They are in Indianapolis, the guys name is James. The wholesaler had quite a few Gigas to choose from in various sizes. They didn't have the size I ordered so they sent me a larger one. I am very happy with the transaction and the clam was very healthy. You can e-mail him at james@paradisereef.us

only 2 kinds of clams, nothing much. not alot to choose from

That is one absolute badazz clam! I've been trying to find a nice gigas for a while. A friend of mine has an 8" gigas, awesome animals. I've just gotta have one now! I'm growing a small patch of eel grass in my 75 gallon reef, and was thinking of sticking a gigas clam right in the middle of it. Man I'm totally excited about it.:hammer:
