yep,thats why i have not filled the sup or overflow boxes yet. I figure when the rock goes in the water will overflow into the sump etc. just found out my return pump won't be here till monday though which is BS but nothing i can do about it. i don't really want the sump to fill until i have that in. It is extremely tight for working room in the stand. if i ever have to get the skimmer out of the sump i am pretty well screwed.

Just a tip, but when you put the rock in. try to clear that area of sand away. this way the rock sits on the glass and not the sand.it will lessen the chance of a rock slide from being undermined.

Absolutely must wiggle that rock through that sand so it sits right on the glass. I was thankful I did that after I got gobies and they dug all under my rock. I knew I wouldn't have a rock slide.

Looks like your off to a ripper of a start! look after your wife if she encourages your reefing habits! that'll soon change as you get deeper into it, trust me!
If i can make a suggestion, dependent on what you plan on keeping, id add another k4 to increase the flow a little. When you aquascape, try to keep the rock off the glass as the growth around and on your glass that you just cant remove will bug you after a while...

here's a crappy pic of how it looks right now. took it with my phone. I need to stack the rock better now that i can actually see it a little lol. Water is still cloudy but 100% better than yesterday. I definitly need a bunch more rock so that i can stack it up a bit more and add more caves/bridges etc as well as just to fill it out a little more.

Are you runnign the skimmer? I would run the skimmer if your not, that will help remove alot of organics and filter out the dust from the sand. Just becareful when you set the skimmers water level. It will fluctuate, its best to do this when you can check it every so often.
I would also get a filter sock and place that under the drain to collect the dust. The tank should clear up in a few days.

Looking good! Keep us posted. If the tank your getting the rock from is established and appears to be succesful I would go for the rock without killing it. You may want to get a few new pieces after cycling (which may be instant depending on how far you are moving the rock) to expand the diversity of organisms. Just make sure to quarantine the new rock to look for unwanted pests before adding it to your display.
