My new tank

Wow, first time visiting this thread Recty. Really glad to see you're into the triggers. Love the queen trigger man. I think you'll enjoy her. Keep us posted on how she does.

Out of all my triggers (13" clown trigger, 8" queen trigger, niger, lei) my 8" lei trigger is the most aggressive. Last week it bit the crap out of my finger.

Haha, I can sympathize with you on that one. My Niger bit me and boy did it hurt.

Wow, you had some catching up to do then ;) I've posted a lot of pictures in this thread, if you're anything like me you probably skipped over the words and just looked at all the pictures.

The queen is great, I do really enjoy her. I keep likening her to a Ferrari. I'll definitely keep updating this thread, most likely with pictures. I'm probably getting a dragon wrasse this afternoon so I'll stick up some pictures of that too most likely.

Yeah, that's my name, I was goofing around in Photoshop. I couldnt find the original and I just wanted to have a shape reference to the queen so I posted it.

You're the first one to spot it and say something about it ;)

i knew that pic looked familiar! you posted it on the local forum hahaha. im surprised i didnt catch it when i saw the pic before.

oh man so you sold the undulated and white tip already retcy?
yep to me :P im really enjoying them.
They went to a good home, I'm not sad about selling them.
aaahhh shucks thanks  lol

is that dragon wrasse at Tims? dont steal it before i get to check it out! im going out wednesday so hopefully he got osmething good in so i can buy it.

so any ideas on how long until the queen needs a new home?

Well, I dont plan on ever selling the queen, but she will get a new tank probably in about 6 months, a year at the most, it really depends how fast she grows.

Dont bother looking for the dragon wrasse, he's already in my tank!

I put in half a clam today and the queen trigger WENT NUTS. She ate almost the entire thing, she scarfed it down. The dragon wrasse was circling and kept getting little bits but didnt really get much, so I fed a small piece of scallop later and he got that. He still had to run it around the tank away from the queen to eat it. She had no room for more but still wanted to eat.

Right now the queen is so fat her bottom trigger is pushed out nonstop, her belly is really stretched. If she eats that much protein daily, I bet this fish grows to 8-9" in a year.

And the pineapple finally died, a week of not eating just was too much, he never was fat to being with.

RIP he was cool :(

Yeah, it's too bad :( I really liked it.

I added another 15 lbs of sand to my tank today so that the wrasse has something to dig in. I've had small wrasses before but never one quite like this, its fun to watch him bury himself.

keep us updated on your dragon, now i want an awesome wrasse lol but i already have the sixline. sad to hear bout your pineapple but crap happens. hmm maybe i should feed my triggers some clams lol. the dragon was from Tims correct? any other bomb diggity or similar fish/corals there? any other additions your thinking of? lol i ask too many questions.... great tank like i said.

ya know i dont think ive seen a FTS (or a recent one if you have posted one up) ;)

The juvie Dragon Wrasses are really cool looking, and interesting to watch, aren't they?
Yep, very cool. I think mine would now be considered a teenager, it's lost all the frills and spikes except the two above the head and I imagine those will be gone within 6 months.

I've seen the adult version in Hawaii while scuba diving and snorkeling, I think I have an underwater picture of one somewhere, I took it with a disposable underwater camera. Let me see if I can find it.

I'll have to get a full tank shot sometime here soon. I want to borrow my bro's macro lens and get some good shots up close of the fish, it's always cool to see their scales and teeth up close.

No, the dragon wrasse did not come from Tim's. I keep not making it there in time, he needs to stay open past 7:00pm. I had to return an item to Petco and saw the dragon wrasse in their tank. They said they had already had it two weeks and it was eating good. I didnt want to get it that night but told them I'd come back the next day and so I did :)

I think they look great. That picture I posted above is an adult about 6" long. This was wild, in Hawaii, about 30' down while snorkeling so I didnt have a long time to look at it, but even that deep in the water their pattern is just cool.

The face is neat on a dragon wrasse, it like techno-goth or something like that. Their body has that nice crisp pattern of white on black and their tails are just white and black, all in all it's a good look but they do move rocks around like no other. I've never had one in a tank until now and already all my rock is covered in sand from him. Some of my rock rubble is moved all over the place.

hmm i thought he stays open till 8 on weekdays, 7 on weekends (6 on sundays?). also i thought the mature dragons had the 2 spike thingys, oh well. looking great. go bug your bro and get the lens so we can see some nice pics.

Well, I borrowed the lens but this is the first time I've tried macro photography on this tank on moving fish, it's relatively hard. There isnt near as much light as my 250w MH was cranking out on my 210 gallon, it was much easier to take pictures there.

Anyway, I like this dragon wrasse, the pattern is pretty wild.

Look at these teeth... hope I never get bit.

haha dont put your hands in the tank unless you HAVE to if you like your fingers. really nice wrasse i wish i had one. hopefully he passes the 2 weeks period lol.

Well, I added four damsels today as dither/cleanup fish. My biggest problem I'm having now is when the queen and the dragon shred up meaty food, they leave a huge mess in the water and neither of them is interested in eating the small pieces. I want some small fish that will be able to clean up my water, so hopefully these do the trick. I just put them in the tank 5 minutes ago, but if they calm down and quit hiding before the lights go out tonight I'll take some pictures.

It's funny how my taste in fish has changed, I used to buy angels that cost $5-600, now I'm pretty happy with $4 damsels ;)
