My new toy

Congrats!

I have had 2 of them on my 75 and absolutely love the flow of them. I also have 2 more coming for my 120 next week... I can't wait to get them.

How many would you guys recomend for a 210gal tank.
Thinking of getting rid of the Dart & the OM4-way with revolutions.

Steve, I'd like to bring my wattmeter over this week, to see what kind of power that puppy draws.

May be interested in those too. Hopefully hear a few more reviews first.

Steve- are they making any noise for you? humming, buzzing, anything at all? How hot does the back of that thing feel after running for several hours?

Its humming but just think of a pump that's in the water you really can't hear it because the water is like a muffler, and its warm not hot. I thought the vibration was going to be bad but I guess I just aligned it right because I have none.

I have mine turned almost all the way down on my 75. I sold my Tunze 6100 streams to buy the 2 vortechs that are coming this week.

I am guessing with a 210 you may want 4 of them just because of how large the tank is but that is strictly my opinion.
It will be nice when the multi-controller is out and I can control both systems with the wireless controller.

For anyone that has these pumps, can you give me an idea of what sound they make. I've heard so many different reports and dont know whats true and whats not. I have a situation where I want to add the absolute minimal sound to the system. In my opinion, the Tunzes I use are virtually silent. I'd take them out of my system and replace them with Vortechs possibly if I knew they were the same.

Ryan - I followed your thread a little while back and you said there was a bit of noise. Is this still the case? has it calmed down (as opposed to you just getting used to it)?

Chad - I know you've had yours for a little while now. How are they for you?

John,

Please feel free to stop over and check them out if you have the time. They are not totally quiet but they are not noticable to me either.

Chad

My Vortech's have quieted down quite a bit.

There is still a slight hum when they a cranked up full blast, but backing them off just a bit quiets them right down.

Chad-

I'd love to take a look at them and hear a couple of them before I decide what to do, so I appreciate the offer. I'm not in a huge hurry, as I'm not quite ready for them. But soon - maybe in a month or so.

John,

Sounds good... When ever you are ready to see them or the tank just let me know and you are more than welcome to come by.

Chad
