My new zoas

Most of my zoa colonies melted off suddenly over the last 2 months so these are some of the new zoas that I acquired recently. Where possible, I will post the pics under 10K MH only and T5 Atinic lights only. First pic will be under 10K MH and the second will be under T5 Atinics. :p

Another zoa given by a reefer friend of mine. Will be fragging to share with some of my other reefer friends. Taken under 10K MH.

A couple more zoas that I bought today. All taken under atinics and most of them haven't opened up fully yet.

Just curious, did you find out why your colonies died before you acquired new ones?

I believe the main reason was light shock. Previously I was running 14K MH which I hadn't changed for about a year and I changed the bulbs to 10K MH which were much brighter than the 14K bulbs I was using previously.

Wow, all nice large colonies and beauties. It was cool to see the huge contrast you actnics make. Helps reinforce that intensity isn't everything when it comes to viewing pleasure in our tanks. Still gotta have something to make them pop.

Thanks for your kind comments...:lolspin:

Yes, atinics will make the colours pop out. In Singapore, we are able to get large colonies of these zoas and bam bams, eagle eyes and dragon eyes are very common these days in our LFS shipments. But for the nicer zoas, it is quite difficult to get our hands on those as most of the colonies make their way to the States.

In fact, I'm thinking of ordering some zoas which we seldom get in Singapore from online retailers in the states.

Nice finds.

Are there any particular shops you would reccommend for buying Zoas in Singapore? I will be visiting this year and am interested in some colourful zoas for my tank back here.

Matt
