bought these bad boys last week when i was out and about in the city last week...cost my 9 dollars...it is only three heads but they are beautiful...green frills, looks like pink faux frills, with a super deep purple/black centre, green mouth, with green lines radiating out from the mouth...not sure exactly what they are though...as you can see the under side has bright green spots...first thought was a paly, but the green spots i have never seen before and they dont really look like sand deposits..they are way too big to be zoas (almost the size of a quarter)...possibly grandis, but not sure...love them anyway...i am feeding them like crazy, and they have a snap reaction to food, closing almost instantly upon food contact...possibly some sort of anemone...

Alas..my new beauties:

i immediately thought nem also. especially the one on the left. just the way the foot is and up near the crown.

yeah until i started taking pics of them i didnt even realize the tentacles were on the oral disc...oh well...i will see how they do...if they start to multiply like crazy then they will have to go...as there isnt much room in a 5g reef to begin with...

Why are you bummed?
They are beautiful.
I'd love to score those.

they are very pretty...bu now i worry for the safety of the other tank inhabitants, as i have no prior experience with this type of anemone...not sure how strong a punch they pack toward corals, and fish etc...mind you the split one is now resting on my green leather and there seems to be no fighting...and so far one of them has already split...so i dont know how fast they are going to take over either...

I had them in one of my tanks 15-16 years ago and I loved them.
I started with 3 from a friend. They grew to a total of about 20 over several years.
I didn't see any aggression with other corals, but I only had soft corals. I've heard they can trap weaker small fish, but didn't have any so that wasn't a problem either.
After a high of 20, I traded a few to other friends and then for some reason I started losing them, until they were all gone. I never knew why.:(

huh...well that sounds pretty good to me...other then them disappearing for no apparent reason...heres hoping they stick around and play nice...

Try a search for green rock anemone.
Think they are found in cooler waters but I've seen them kept at about 78f.At higher temperatures they multiply quicker so may become a pest coral abit like majano.
