40 gal long is a pretty shollow tank it should do fine under t5 just keep the bulbs fresh. Dersa clams are more of a tan color thats a corcea.

Very cool. If I ever make enough money to spend now that I got this:

Definitely not derasa. 95.7% sure that it is a crocea. The only other one it could be, which entails the 4.3% I left open, is the maxima, but again, fairly certain it is not..

They are Crocea. Maximas have "scutes" on the shell. Derasa mantles look completely different (lots of tiny stripes, usually gold and black often with blue rims). Color and health are best under extreme light as they are highly photosynthetic. I'd get them as high up under T-5's as possible. Maximas and croceas are the two most demanding light clams we usually see in the trade. Derasas and squamosas can do well under slightly less light, but both get very large. HTH, Marcye

You made me so jealous I had to go get one Did you name your clam? I am deciding whether or not to name mine.

Today I was feeding him in a bowl and I knew he'd like squoosh out water as part of the whole filter feeding mechanism, but he shot it like 3 feet out of the bowl right at Kevin haha it was the funniest thing i've ever seen

Nice Maxima....and holy cow I didnt realize how many tanks you have in the townhouse! My wife would kill me.
