My next fish?

It's been about 2 months since I added uncured live rock into my 29g tank. As of now my livestock are as follows:

2 percula clownfish (tank bred)
6 chestnut snails(turbo fam)
5 blue-legged hermits

My tank setup is as follows:

15lbs of porous indo live rock (I believe it's enough and looks good too with that as max)
1/2" sandbed
skimmerless
chaeto growing in refugium
hydor koralia 1 powerhead

nitrates: 5-10 ppm

Just like to know what my best options are for my next fish. Its been more two weeks since I last added livestock. I'd like some fish with personality and enjoyment to watch.

Thanks

A small Flame Hawkfish. A great and entertaining fish - particularly if you don't have shrimp (as they have been known to eat them)

sounds like good choices thanks . I was thinking of a yellow watchman goby. Is that a good choice? Are there other gobies that are just as good?

Watchman's are the coolest gobies around. They will hide out and scare easy, but very cool.

Also, you are short on live rock. You should have 1-1.5 pounds per gallon. I have a 28 with 40lbs in it. If your running skimmerless, you need as much live rock as possible.

Yeah I got you on the LR thing but it also depends on how porous it is. The rule is minimum 1lb/gallon but that might as well cramp up my tank which in turn might cause issues. I'll see how it goes for now and check on nitrates often.

About watchman's they are sand sifters and I heard its bad to have sand sifters in tank below 30g or so. I think its because they might cause sandbed issues for a small tank

Yeahh I was thinking about the dwarf zebra lions too. Read they are reef-safe, yet I'm in doubt. Maybe because I'm scared, it is poisionous you know :D

Pseudochromis fridmani. Great fish with great color, nice size for a smaller tank and a good demeanor. Neon pink at with <14,000 k bulbs and more pink/purple with 14k plus bulbs (depending on lamp brand etc.

29lbs of LR in my 29g with lots of room! Sounds like you have a nice set-up that may struggle for adequate filtering with future additions. I have found the following a helpful guide for stocking fish: www.reefcentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74703&hl= You will have to copy the url and paste it into your browser.

I guess you have dense rock that adds to the weight so you might as well have three pieces of rock that weigh 29lbs equvilent to the size of the total of my rocks that only weighs 15lbs

thanks for the link

Ouch! Just short of calling ME "dense", it appears you are determined to to stick with the 15lbs regardless. Good Luck.

I have a yellow watchman....coolest guy in my tank. Doesn't spook easily either. Just sits there and watches me. Pretty neat to watch him feed also.

I have a 55 gal. He had restricted himself to the right 8 inches of my tank. Has been that way since I got him 2 months ago. He finally ventured to the extreme left side of the tank now. I think he found a pistol under a rock. I had suspected a pistol under that rock....now I know for sure!

watchmans don't sift alot of sand. They tend to sift small amounts in one area. Make sure that it will eat in the store before you buy it also, makes a big difference in how much it will sift.
